Is there any current or former Aggie head football coach that you haven't thrown under the bus?

Has anyone here ever been in like a restaurant or somewhere similar and heard one of these goofballs knock their ring on the table to see if there are any fellow Ags in the room?

It's like the homo-homoerectus mating call.

It's definitely culture.

imo, culture doesn't have anything to do with that loss. it was 100% coaching. they blew a 5 TD lead for god's sake. that would be very hard to do even if you planned it. the players obviously did not execute in the second half and they got "tight assholes" late; ie, they choked. all they needed to win was a friggin field goal in one half of football. I think they should have played their older QB, Hubinek (sp) and ran the football after their guy got hurt. but, once these comebacks get started they are hard to stop; it takes an offense to make a damn drive and scoring. takes time off the clock too.

Haven't heard the ring knock, but "whoop!" is their homosexual mating call, more so.

They even "whoop" at funerals. Crass.

All they had to do was fricking run the ball. That's it. Comeback or no. UCLA got like 5 possessions with less than 3 minutes on the clock.

That's why I maintain Sumlin was actually drunk on the sidelines. Even if you lost yardage every single time you could have ran the clock dead, winning the game.

Sumlin would rather look good win or lose, than play an "ugly" game.

It chaps my arse when people ride the coat tails of the military. Same as when politicians do it and cheese dick country music singers do it.

You're quoting a guy about "acting like you've been there" yet you guys bring up the service thing every single time, in every conversation no matter how completely irrelevant.

And no I didn't serve and was lucky enough to grow up when my friends and I didn't have to. Would bet most of the Aggies in this thread didn't either. That's fricking lame to pull that card

Ya'll aren't developing a culture of winning any time soon. Going to take a miracle hire or selling out.

I know this because we did both in 2008. And it was awesome until it fell off that Harley.

A&M's Achilles heel has always been its fake army culture.

You're right, of course. People need scapegoats, though. That's really what this comes down to.

All the "culture" stuff that's getting lambasted today in the aftermath of pedestrian seasons and epic meltdowns was lauded back in 2012/2013 as an attitude change TAMU needed when we were kicking arse and taking names. Hell, look at the way folks evaluate Sumlin's demeanor--he's always been brusque with the press. When he's winning, people treat him like Gregg Popovich. When he's losing, they blame that attitude as part of the problem.

I'm not a scapegoat type of fan. It's all about results. He overachiever early on with Manziel, then gave it all back with his foibles the past few years. IDGAF about music at practices, about swag on the sidelines, about demeanor in interviews, or hashtags on Twitter. All of that stuff is superfluous.

If you can produce, great. If not, bye. Cut the bullshite.

Whooping really bothers you.

Duly noted.

When successful, the team and coaches are great. But in adversity, the team can't dig out and get back into it. The old saying, "Act like you've been there before," goes a long way. Keeps people focused and even keel. Without that emotions run too high and too low with no middle ground. This is a culture issue, players and coaches playing & working hard but built on a foundation of over-confidence and emotion. This is and has been our program under Coach Sumlin. We shouldn't be surprised."

Is this not what I've been saying, exactly?

Again, is there any current or former head Aggie football coach you don't hold disdain for? Gene Stallings?

Throw all the shade you want, but this thread isn't about our shitty program. It's about yours.

Mike Sherman. He gave my brother a shot as a walk on.

Also have no need with Slocum. If the AD had listened to him warning them about the looming arms race in CFB, the past couple decades would have been quite different.

I like Sumlin a lot as a person, but his true value as a coach has been exposed. We must move on.
