Is the SEC the only basketball league the officials don't let the players play?

Every SEC game I try to watch is nothing but whistles. Whoever is hiring officials in the SEC office needs to be offered early retirement.

Any time there is kind of contact anywhere, incidental or not, that whistle blows. 80% of refs think the crowd is there to seem them, especially that dick Doug Shows

It really is ridiculous. The SEC should be ashamed of this shite. Literally unwatchable.

Game has to go to quarters ASAP to have the fouls reset after each quarter. Way too many free throws each game. Free throw contests are for grade school kids.

It is pretty shitty. CBB as a whole is bad. Kansas shot over 40 FTs last night. It looks worse in the SEC due to all the shitty offense to begin with. You can thank that rat face frick arse coach K for this btw. After Louisville beat them in the Elite 8 in 2013, he whined like a baby back bitch along with other coaches about the hand checking in CBB. That year Louisville was notoriously bad about blatantly fouling

I liked it back when hand checking was allowed in the "40 Minutes of Hell" days.

Me too, but as it went unchecked it got out of hand. You could hear the slaps clearly on t.v. and fouls wouldn't get called. Rick P's strategy was hack the shite out of the opposition because, "well they can't call every foul because it would slow the game down to almost a grinding halt" or something like that.

I am sick of watching our players put their hands up and makeno attempt whatsoever at playing defense(because of the new foul rules) and still get called.

Tonight, Stapleton got beat on the dribble, opened up, recovered, got in front of his man, and backed off while he shot to avoid getting a foul. Didnt put his hands up or anything. Made no attempt to defend the shot. Gave a good foot or two of space because the refs are ridiculous. Got called anyway. There is literally no way to play defense. Georgia won strictly from getting shots in the lane and makin free throws on bullshite calls. Not hating on them. Thats the game now.

I can understand UGA getting to shoot 32 freerhrows to our 8 because its in their house. But it seems to happen to us even in our own house. How many times we see a MSU player stand still with arms up and get called for a foul? ALL DAMN YEAR LONG.
I just laugh now. But there are two officials I always hate to see call any of our games. They can't wair to blow a whistle, even before the damn play is over as if they just anticipate we're gonna foul lol.

It may be time for SEC to clean house with current officials and start all over

I have to agree with you. It's so bad that I heard it discussed on some Espn radio show where it was memtioned that the Sec officiating will hurt what players believe is a foul during the Ncaa tourney. Everyone seems to get it but our very own Sec office.

I agree. The overall competency seems to me to have dropped considerably. Players are getting to the point they don't know what to do on the court because they are constantly in danger of fouling out.

The good thing is that what I have witnessed does not look biased but just incompetent.

Going to go Devil's advocate here....could be that many SEC players are crappy as college basketball players.

I wonder if he old LMU and UNLV offenses could survive today's officiating throughout the NCAA

the biggest thing I hate nowadays, which has always existed but for some reason seems to be more prevalent now, is a guy shooting a contested 3 then falling backwards looking for a foul call.

What's more frustrating is the shite refs that give in to this pandering. Tell the guy to knock it off after the first time.

I do think a little of the issue is our athletes and knowledge of the game.. but still the officials need to swallow that damn whistle.

Ben Howland was asked but of course he can't say anything about officials so the guy with the mic did it for him lol. All Ben can say is he coaches his players what is a foul along with the new rules and after that it's out of his hands.

It's why I don't watch BB anymore, the game is terribly boring because of the number of fouls. It gets even more boring when your team is a press team like Arkansas and fouls are called when they just look at the other players.

What's weird is a lot of the same officials ref more than one conference but they don't seem as bad whenever I watch OOC hoops. That said, if you wanna see 'em play watch the wimmenz. The refs don't call anything short of a knife fight half the time whereas you can sneeze and get a foul in the men's game.
