Well, perhaps I'm not clear what I meant. If you mean more prominent for people who's whole of knowledge rests on internet searches, then yes, that link would be the more prominent. I was speaking more on terms of what school SID's would consult or historians who which to understand the subject a little better.
The NCAA Book of Records is the source that schools use when they are listing their title antecedents. Schools such as Alabama, Tennessee, Michigan, USC, Notre Dame and others all use it when they are telling you what titles they have won. It is indeed the source of the list you gave, and the other links that the NCAA has given in the past, and it will continue to be the source.

And now for an objective, definitive opinion:
LOL! Objective? An Alabama fan comes up with a ranking system that ranks Alabama #1 and it becomes "objective".

The NCAA and SEC.
Neither one of those bodies names national title winners in football.

It shows Tennessee has a legit claim to 6 titles. I think four is the number

All Time Team Rankings:
#9 Louisiana St.
#10 Tennessee
That site has Minnesota and GA Tech ahead of Penn St and Florida St...

The book has a lot of titles that schools don't claim. It's a fallacy that there's some set number out there that the NCAA views each team as having. The only official numbers out there come from what each school claims.
Every title that a school claims comes from the selectors on that list, save one.

Neither does CFDW or Winsipedia.

Yet y'all are the ones always using CFDW.

What's not debatable is that UF has won twice as much hardware as UT.

We need TnM to tell us how Auburn has won 4 titles since 1983.

I did.

Only ones trying to pad their record, reputable SIDs just look in their trophy cabinet.
The one I linked is on the NCAA site. It does not list every single organization that ever named a champion, and actually seems reasonable.
Why else would the NCAA make a list called "Championship History" while the list you link is simply called, "National Poll Champions"?

...of all poll champions from which they will acknowledge a "championship history".
The NCAA acknowleedges Tennessee as having 2 championships, regardless of how many "poll champions" they are listed for.
BUT, even using your source, LSU and Tennessee both end up with 7 titles, LSU having 3 before UT's first, and 2 since UT's last.
UT simply hasn't been as good historically as people want to believe.

and pretty much owned them for my 26 yrs i can probably count on one hand how many times they've beaten us

Why would a Bama fan be motivated to put LSU above Tennessee?
At least an LSU fan didn't come up with it.

Yes, because it's "all-time", not just since the 70s.

It's not a fallacy, I provided direct evidence of the very list.

Did your list have schools and numbers after it, like Alabama 15, etc. The answer is not. Neither did mine. It's a fallacy that the NCAA gives a count.

I've never linked that website. I can't speak for other Vol posters but your accusation doesn't apply to me.

You mean the same Alabama guy who hates Tennessee? Presuming he was able to work a system that put every single team where he personally perfers them, maybe it was because he hates Tennessee.
