I think Gundy could make a good SEC coach. I have always liked him

Gene Chizik had a lot more to work with. Sumlin is yoked with the burden of coaching for Aggy.

The difference is that Auburn only fricks shite up up some of the time.

No one cares. USC playing OU was the right call.

That is an opinion, not a fact. That is what is fricked up about college football, opinions (of the media and now the committee) matter more than facts.

I never saw one player mean as much as Dancing Cam did to AU. They basically had NOTHING besides him as evidenced by the complete collapse after he left.

You do realize that Auburn lost 29 other players in addition to Cam following the 2010 season. Includes the entire front 7 on D ,4/5th of the OL,and most skill players. Learn something before you pop off at the mouth.

I still remember when they kicked holy terror Michael Dyer off the team. No surprise that Hugh Freeze and, later, anthropomorphic aardvark Gus Malzahn were eager to have him.

Let's compare the two.

After their first 4 seasons as an SEC head coach:
Chizik - 33-19 (15-17) with 3-0 record in bowls.
Sumlin - 36-15 (17-15) with a 3-0 record in bowls (so far).

When hired:
Chizick - everyone thought what the frick, a 5-19 coach?
Sumlin - the next coming of some great coach

Best year with a superstar QB:
Chizik - trip to NYC for his player winning the Heisman, SECC, BCSC.
Sumlin - trip to NYC for his player winning the Heisman.

How they dealt with issues surrounding their superstar QB:
Chizik - let Auburn's compliance staff handle things, never let Cam or anyone else on the team speak to the media, kept in in house.
Sumlin - let JFF pretty much run the show, no matter what he did.

Auburn's players completely quit on Chizik in 2012, far as I know that hasn't happened with Sumlin yet.

Sumlin may be one of the great mid major coaches that just can't be a great coach in power 5.

They scored 7 points against a Kevin Steele coached defense and you don't think we have sufficient evidence that his players have quit on him? Wow. Must be a high threshold.

That team had like 22 seniors who had all started for 2 or 3 years. In some cases 4 years. Plus they lost another 6-8 guys to the draft early, transfer, etc...

No. Sumlin didn't have to buy JFF like Chizik bought Cam.
