Might be headed up there for something soon and was just wondering what to expect.

It is, tons of good places to eat, still lacking in the really good bar scene. But it's really a great town.

I went there this past season for our game. I literally just parked on campus and tailgated (wasn't bad).

I went in 2009 and saw their "downtown" -- not much there.

So I suggest just going there and tailgating and going to the game. Not much to do within 2 hours of Starkville.

really not bad. not going to say it is amazing or say it is super nice but its just a town really. if you are looking for bars the cotton district has really grown. plenty of good restaurants. everyone acts like it is hell on earth but it isnt that terrible

It’s awful but I do like going to games there.

They have a better atmosphere than Ole Miss.

The city revolves around the school obviously. If you go during a big game, it’s as fun as any other town in the SEC imo. If not, you’ll struggle to keep yourself busy.

It is a town and it is nice. They have cold beer, good pizza, hot coffee, and cold ice cream.

Is Denham Springs a nice town?

Is Baghdad Florida a nice town?

Is Panama City your favorite beach "resort town" to vacay in?

Do you have more than 3 visible tattoos?

Does your house have wheels?

Do less than half you shirts have sleeves?

Is your baby mama, your ex wife, the broad you cheated on your second wife with, your current wife, and your 3rd cousin all the same person?

If you answered YES to these questions.....

No, it is still a shite hole

The cheese is legit too.

The only thing starkville is lacking is a brewery. other than that it is a pretty sweet little town. You have to travel for music, but there are some decent little bands that make it through town and some good local acts to keep you entertained.

It's nicer than Baton Rouge. Leave your bullet proof vest at the house.

Great, small but bustling city that has started to come into its own over the last 25 years.

When I was a child in the 1960’s, it was Mississippi’s version of Mayberry. But since about 1990, it has seen steady growth.
Campus is beautiful with a number of interesting things to see and do. If you like history, the US Grant Library is neat, the the Cullis Wade Depot is a nice area to hang out.
As somebody as has already mentioned, the university ice cream and cheese are both delicious.
The town has evolved into a nice college town/city that has things to do but still feels like a college town. Very few places left like that in the country.

So I say enjoy yourself while you are in God’s Country!!!!!
