There may be some of the lunatic fringe that villify him, but I gotta believe most fans will respect what he's done for our program.

if memory serves me correct, Florida wouldn't offer him a coaching spot?

[quote]Is Saban vilified by Bama fans like he was by LSU fans when he took the Bama gig? No.

Will they turn on him like they did their kicker this weekend? No

Will be become the devil incarnate? No

Will the statue come down? No

Or will he (maybe with some time) be held on a pedestal? Somewhat.

Enter the Bear Bryant pantheon of Alabama Sainthood? Hell no. Bryant would have kicked the 30 yard FG, and Mary Harmon would have never bitched about feeling "unappreciated."

Simple answer is he would be reviered as the second best coach to walk the bama field.

If he leaves I wish him well, even if in the same division... just would want bama to beat him every year ;)

While it's true that LSU fans turned on Saban when he took the Bama job, who could blame them? He lied multiple times about being interested in the position, even going so far as saying on more than one occasion "I will not be the head football coach at Alabama." When he left Baton Rouge for Miami, most LSU fans wished him well, despite the fact that he broke the news that he was leaving on Christmas Eve.

I think there are also some feelings of "what could've been" as well. If Miles had bolted for Michigan in 2007 as ESPN had reported, I think there is a good chance that Saban would've ended up back at LSU.
