Mullen ain't going anywhere, because Dak is a junior. Dan ain't leaving Dak. Michigan is an inferior program. Michigan's best days as a football program are looong gone. Geography has changed things, just look at ND. Florida is not getting Mullen. Mullen and the Gators are history. Mama Mullen don't like Gainesville. Florida will make a big hire not named Dan Mullen.

How so? Everything I said was factually correct. Before this year, Mullen has been average on the field in winning and off the field in competing with the big dogs in recruiting. This post isn't about yesterday... it's about whether or not Miss St. can compete in the SEC outside of this year. Phenoms like Dak come and go. I don't ever see MSU pulling in great recruiting classes.

Outside of this year I have seen our team get better and better. Tough loses turn into great wins at some point. We don't lose to people we are not suppose to and now we are winning the toss up games.

We actually return most of our big playmakers...Redmond and Calhoun in the secondary, Chris Jones and Nick James on Dline (lose Preston Smith) McKinney if he doesn't go pro at LB, Beniquez and Richie brown at LB both return. We lose Matt Wells.

We return Dak and Josh Robinson. We return Derunnya Wilson and Fred Brown and Gabe Myles at WR. Lose Lewis and Johnson.

All positions return lots of talent except Oline. We lose 3 good players on the Oline.

Same can be said about where A&M stands without their phenom this year

I have lived a long time to see/hear that used in the same sentence.

You grinded us and LSU with that Oline, QB, and defensive front 7. Out of those, I'd expect 7-9 to be gone next year. Thank goodness... because they are good and should win the SEC this year if y'all get past Auby.

But you guys will not be as good next season with so many starters going out the door.

Our defense has a 1a and 1b that constantly rotates in. It's not as bad as it appears because at the Dline and LB positions we are very deep and the 1b guys play just as much as the starters. We lose Preston Smith at DT, Wells at LB, and Cox at safety. The others we lose are replaceable. If Mckinney goes pro it'll hurt though. If he stays our front 7 won't miss a beat.

I will be shocked if Dak comes back for his senior year. I hope so as he is a good kid and stud on the field, but he seems Cam worthy to me, and I would think he would be a first rounder in the draft.

Oline is the only position that concerns me next year. We have recruited well at DT and LB to have quality depth to not miss a beat on defense. If Dak stays our offense will have all of the big playmakers back..as long as we put together a manageable Oline they will be good.

We will just have to see what happens but we will have a solid team next year. I don't think we'll be as good as this year, but we'll be good enough to compete with anyone and win 8-10 games if Dak stays.

Factually incorrect. I think yesterday's performance is indicative of Mullen's recruiting classes. I'm not sure if you people will ever learn how this works

Not competing with the big dogs in recruiting. Beating the big dogs on the field. Counter intuitive much??

Don't know...depends on If Mullen can get the right guys. He is recruiting a bit better this year. He is a good coach. If Mullen lands Newton he probably already has a West title.

Don't Think AU beats state any way...But I do think Dak leaves after this year and I think he may even win the SEC and
National championship He is also a great example how players Mature with a few years in a college program. .

Agreed..well, if State had matched the offer..Mullen develops players as well as anyone else and QB recruits would do well to note his skillset.

Dear God I've heard it all

quote:

Michigan is an inferior program

In no way shape or form is Mississippi State a superior program to Michigan. The Michigan brand, their history, resources, wealth, & population (10M) trump MSU & the state of Mississippi. Their AD has been mismanaged for a good number of years & their football records have been an indication of this

quote:

Michigan's best days as a football program are looong gone

We've heard the same shite when football programs are struggling (e.g. LSU in 90's, Alabama 00's, etc)

quote:

Geography has changed things

Do you mean demographics? I don't think Geography just changes.

Michigan has a brand that can recruit nationwide. Get them a coach that can win/recruit and the results will follow. The state of Michigan has ~10 million people. Mullen has shown he can win with 3 star athletes. He could do the same at Michigan.

quote:

just look at ND

Notre Dame played for a national title 2 years ago and is currently ranked #6. wtf?

Yeah o-line is the biggest concern by far for next year.

If state can win the west and make the playoffs this year our recruiting will take a huge leap forward. We can sustain the program to consistently win 8+ games a year and competing for the West every few years. OM can do the same with Freeze.

Recruiting and coaching. We have a top 10 for next year if it holds and if we keep winning, it should. Plus, we are playing one true Freshman (punt returner - who scares the hell out of me BTW). Lots of redshirts.

You mean Michigan hasn't physically moved?? What? Geography has a lot to do with it. Recruits would rather play on the west coast, the east coast, and certainly in the south. Michigan has history but history doesn't mean as much when you've been irrelevant for quite some time on the national scale. Why would Mullen abandon a good thing and inherit a dumpster fire in a snow state?? He's smarter than you think.
