what teams in the SEC will be capable of beating Alabama over the next 5 years?

LSU is capable. I do think we will beat them within the next 5 years, I just don't think it will be in Tuscaloosa this year. I say we take them in BR next year, with Myles Brennan under center.

Auburn is also capable. Stidham is a stud, and QB's like him have given Bama fits in the past.

Florida.... No telling. McElwain is an offensive coach, but his offense for the most part has been offensive. Grier getting suspended and then leaving did put them in a bad spot, though. I think if Franks develops into a legit threat, they could.

Georgia will be capable in the next few years. Ramsey looked good as a freshman in the SEC, and they're recruiting lights out. Give them 2 years and they should be able to compete with Bama.

Hope you're right....
The SEC is so much better with a very good Florida, Tennessee, and Georgia!

The way the conference is set up now...
All Alabama has to do is beat LSU and/or Auburn and they walk into the final four...

Bama fans won't admit it...

It is purely amazing the number of LSU fans who are sure Alabama is in a turmoil about playing LSU every year...Yet you go on Alabama chat boards and LSU is never mentioned until the week of the game.

LSU is always a tough game but so is State and Arkansas. Somehow this guy is convinced that every team in the SEC thinks about LSU all the time...Fla, Ala, etc. in truth no one much does that except maybe Ole Miss.

I recommend just enjoy Tiger football and quit trying to inflate their games into being the monsters of the midway, or Alabama or something. Oh, and for your own mental health don't get expectations of a win in Tuscaloosa this year. If LSU stays within 24 points it will be another moral victory.

I don't mean a streak like Bama has run off on y'all through LSUs history but I mean tuning y'all up like 58-3 regularly it seemed. This thread seems silly. It wasn't until the mid 2000 that this thing wasn't so lopsided in their favor.

Don't flatter yourselves Bama. 6?

We were 1-14 against Spurrier's UF teams.

And the only year it was competitive was the year we won.

Dark days, my friends...

Not quite my point, but won't argue with you.

I could very well be wrong, but it seems like most Alabama fans downplay the LSU game, and I do get it. We are not a rivalry for you. I get it.
But even Paul Finbaum said that LSU is the most important game for Alabama every year.

BTW.....I'll take the 24 points!
You wanna get down?
How much?

Name any SEC East team that could slide into the west and be .500 in Conference play

Without a doubt.

There's a reason his teams struggle against HUNH and other high-octane offenses.

Well, considering Florida beat the team that finished 2nd in the west last year, I would imagine they could manage a .500 record...

WHY? Let it go. It's not healthy to dwell on negative things that happened in your life. 16-10 is over. The basketball loss, the baseball, it's all over. Maybe 2017 will be a better year, just let it go, 2016 is over.

Wait, what? So one decade of excellence over us takes precedence over decades of games played? Clearly, the 90's wasn't a good era for LSU Football. Anyone with a functioning eye or knowledge of SEC football knows this. We were 1-9 against UF from 1990 - 1999. However, the series from 1937-1989 was 18-15-3 in LSU's favor. Spare me this nonsense that anyone over 25 years old not knowing LSU/UF history. People who followed LSU before the 1990s know better. Since 2000, the series has been as balanced as you can ask for being 9-8 in LSU's favor and with LSU winning 5 of the last 7 games played.

Both are good programs; each winning 3 national championships a piece. LSU has won 11 SEC titles and Florida has won 8 SEC titles. The attempt to make UF superior to LSU in ever way traditionally makes you look ill-informed, but by all means, proceed. Oh and fun fact, LSU Football has won a SEC Championship in every decade in the conference with the exception of the 40's and 90's. Not bad for a program who I've been told to be irrelevant till the 2000's, but what do I know?

--

UF isn't a "rivalry," just a series that is developing bad blood between the institutions. Will it last and become a formidable rivalry across the board? Doubt it. It's just an entertaining series that I enjoy, but I stand by wanting a rotation of SEC East opponents. I want to play UGA more, having several alumni friends from there.

LSU led the series until 1992, which, coincidentally, was 25 years ago, so it seems like anybody over 25 would remember that. Unless they were a complete idiot or just full of shite and talking out of their arse, that is.

Florida won 9 in a row from 1988 through 1996 and 13 of 14 from 1988 through 2001. Alabama did have one streak of 11 in a row from 1971 through 1981, but I'm not sure they've ever won 13 of 14 over LSU.

That was the 1993 score, the most lopsided defeat in LSU history. They did have some blowouts over us during that period in which their legendary coach was in his absolute prime and LSU was mired in the worst period in our history by far. Outside of that period of 14 years, the series has always been in LSU's favor.

I think LSU and Florida are about even. I don't know the stats now, but not too long ago, they had better records against each other at the away venue and even otherwise.

LSU hasn't finished higher than 3rd in the west since 2012

Past 3 years

LSU 25 wins
UT 25 wins

Your Coach is 3-23 vs the SEC as a head coach
