Is John Emery Jr gonna be a bust?

Really expected more of him last year, I know he was behind a great back but 3 LSU backs got more carries than he did. When he did carry it I wasn’t impressed.

3 backs were also at spring practice while he was at Prom.
He was definitely behind the 8 ball last year.
I think the ceiling is sky high, and he had some good runs, but he usually got late game mop up duty carries which were usually predictable and 2nd string OL.

two had more carries.
Edwards-Helaire 215 carries
Davis-Price 64 carries
Emery 39 carries
Curry 38 carries
Fournette 13 carries
Kind of splitting hairs with those bottom three (sans Fournette). Not a big enough statistical data point to really draw much from so few carries those guys had. Davis-Price and Emery were both true freshman. I'm not ready to call anyone a bust at 18 years old.

How has no one mentioned that he was pretty much blind in on eye and had surgery (iirc) to get it corrected this off-season? He also needed to gain strength in the weight room. Clyde didn't start his first two years and was a first round pick.
ETA: He was legally blind in one eye and used a contact to help but it didn't work well. He got LASIK

The jury is probably still out on Emery TBH. Maybe he will maybe he won’t. We all know Sopsher is a bust already. Slob can’t even walk 10 yards without sucking wind
