Tebow?

Twice.

Two NCs.

Zero Cotton Bowls, tho.

Yep. '83 and got shafted out of the NC. Went into the Sugar Bowl as the #3 rated team and #1 and #2 lost their bowl game. The only loss was week 2 at #1 Texas. IIRC, something like 9 out of the 11 teams Auburn played went to Bowl games....and I believe they all won except for Texas.

We didn't have just our best player ever, we had THE best player ever. It just wasn't a great team. He literally won a game where the defense didn't force a punt. Tebow, Cam, Ingram, etc none of those Heisman winners ever won a game where their defense was incapable of forcing a punt.
Cam Newton took an 8-5 team and turned them into a 14-0 National/SEC Championship team. He also put up mind-boggling stats against teams when the SEC West was the strongest it has ever been. He lead us to wins over 9-4 Mississippi State that killed Michigan in the bowl game, SEC East champion South Carolina (2), #11 ranked 10-3 Alabama that killed Michigan State in the Capital One Bowl, Sugar Bowl bound Arkansas, #2 ranked Oregon, #6 ranked LSU, Clemson and Georgia. He was then drafted #1 overall and has set records in the NFL on a team that drafted him after finishing 2-14.

BTW, in 2010, Arkansas only punted twice against Auburn. Auburn won 65-43. Georgia also only punted twice against Auburn in 2010. Auburn won 49-31.

Tebow won all the titles eventually, he just didn't win them the year he won the Heisman.

To be honest, I think winning the Heisman on a non-title team is a pretty great accomplishment.

Too often great players on so-so teams get overlooked in favor of good players on championship contending teams.

There isn't a team/offense in existence who could've won its division with the defense we fielded last year.

This same tired meme of "you had your best player ever but couldn't win" shows nothing but a complete lack of football acumen and understanding by those who repeat it.

Johnny did all he could do--and more. Our offense was sick. Our defense was one of the worst units I've ever seen.

It would've been great to win a division title with Johnny; but he was not remotely culpable for the fact that we didn't.

Just one of those crazy deals.

Our recruiting struggled for a while until we moved to the SEC. So the 2014 was playing with some handicaps. Keep in mind we were in the BDF conference with tu and we were not on a level playing field. Its nice to be in a conference in which the officials are not biased.

And we're supposed to crown his arse as the best ever?

They have made it clear that they believe this.

A&M, do you realize that you had your best player ever and you never finished higher than 3rd in the division?

Yeah, they know. But they beat Bama one time, so suck it. Oh, and horsecollar.

All you guys did was replace Arkansas in the pecking order of the SEC West.

That's a tad hyperbolic.
