This defense is more in Saban's wheelhouse. I remember Saban's introductory PC when he said we will attack the football.
The last few years, even though we had great defenses, we had become passive in some situations. People were screaming to blitz, stunt, zone blitz, anything. We were playing 7 in coverage a lot. This is GET TO THE FOOTBALL, put pressure on everything they do a la 2008 and 2009. Force the offense to play your game.
Saban runs the D and his philosophy, for whatever reason had changed. He's back to his comfort zone now with Pruitt. I think he had come to respect Kirby so much that he had let him sort of take the reigns the last couple years.
