This. Duron was a can't miss, one-in-a-million prospect that never even saw the field.

Also, Enes Kanter.

This is what Saban is talking about when he talks about the media and fans and expectations. Why in the world was he projected to be a Heisman favorite? Think about how stupid that is/was.

He was also projected as a top 10 draft pick for 2016 last year as well

An Alabama player made USA Today's Heisman Top 10, but it's not who you would think.

quote:
Quarterback Jacob Coker brought up the tail end of Paul Myerberg's list - headlined by Oregon's Marcus Mariota and Baylor's Bryce Petty - despite not having played a down of football at Alabama yet.

To be honest I thought the OP said "the" Heisman favorite, not "a" Heisman favorite. Even with that qualification, it's a bit of a stretch to say he was considered a Heisman favorite last year. So he was number 10 of 10 on this guy's list (that's is borderline dark horse territory for this one guy's list, not exactly a favorite). I just googled and the first 5 results for preseason Heisman lists for 2014 didn't mention Coker and some went as deep as 15 names. I still say that is exaggeration at best and complete revisionist history at worst to say Coker was considered a Heisman favorite preseason last year.

This mock draft had him at #23 overall in the 2015 draft.

The "initial stuff" being not even winning the starting job in college? Yeah that can kind of put the brakes on top 10 NFL draft talk.

Gumps start the worst threads. I'd rather swamp kittens continue on their butthurt about how Chavis lost games because he couldn't get 8 stops in a row following 8 LSU offensive 3 and outs. Would honestly be a better thread than this.

Why don't we wait and see if he wins the job and how he does before we label him a bust? I'd say odds are still in his favor to start this year...what if he has a great year? As far as hype....he was a 3 star out of HS and a back up at FSU. The only hype came from the BS Jumbo was spewing in order to put more pressure on Saban and Coker.

What were the other ways he "Trogan Horsed" Bama?

Also, was there some benefit to Fisher / FSU in all of this?

He was projected to be a Heisman favorite and was "close" in the battle with Winston apparently. He's now about be beat out by a Freshman QB. Thoughts?

I'm also thinking Jimbo just pulled off the biggest troll job ever.

There have been many pointless threads lately but this might be the worst.

Trolled the media more than anything. Saban started Sims, won the SEC and had a better showing in the playoffs than Jumbo.

Agree. There was a lot of tounge-n-cheek rhetoric about Cokesiah 4 Hiesman that the OP is probably getting confused with some pre-season top 10 lists. And to be fair, Coker was only getting Heisman love because Alabama was expected to be a great team and when that happens the QB will be on display enough to generate that sort of talk.
