Only playing one year?

Also, do Auburn fans still think he is a future NFL Hall of Famer? His QB play has been more mediocre than outstanding since the Panthers trip to the Super Bowl a few years back.

He played two years. Blinn and Auburn. Two National Titles. So yes.

IIRC, the college FB HOF has some pretty strict criteria to be considered.... cam having only played 14 games probably doesn't qualify.

If the panthers don't get him so help, he won't be in the pro HoF.

Look at his sacks the last 2 seasons. His OL is trash and was trash last season. He might not become a HofF QB, but he clearly has unique gifts that the Panthers are wasting. Shula has been and will continue to be a below average OC in the NFL.

He would have been had he actually had a real collegiate career rather than being a 1 year hired gun.

He doesn't have to play there forever.

Technical specs and HoF requirements aside, that's actually an interesting question just from the fans' points of view. Does one year at a major program, a national title, and the acknowledgement that he is one of the best QBs in SEC history make him HoF-worthy from your point of view? For that matter, what about Manziel, who never sniffed a title but definitely had a huge impact on CFB and played more than one season doing so?

Unfortunate. He's one of the best college athletes I've ever seen at QB.

There really aren't strict criteria-- from their own homepage:

Hall of Fame Criteria:
FIRST AND FOREMOST, A PLAYER MUST HAVE RECEIVED FIRST-TEAM ALL-AMERICA RECOGNITION BY A SELECTOR RECOGNIZED BY THE NCAA AND UTILIZED TO COMPRISE THEIR CONSENSUS ALL-AMERICA TEAMS.
A player becomes eligible for consideration by the NFF's Honors Court 10 years after his last year of intercollegiate football played.
While each nominee's football achievements in college are of prime consideration, his post-football record as a citizen is also weighed. He must have proven himself worthy as a citizen, carrying the ideals of football forward into his relations with his community and fellow man. Consideration may also be given for academic honors and whether or not the candidate earned a college degree.
Players must have played their last year of intercollegiate football within the last 50 years*. For example, to be eligible for the 2017 ballot, the player must have played his last year in 1967 or thereafter. In addition, players who are playing professionally and coaches who are coaching on the professional level are not eligible until after they retire.
A coach becomes eligible three years after retirement or immediately following retirement provided he is at least 70 years old. Active coaches become eligible at 75 years of age. He must have been a head coach for a minimum of 10 years and coached at least 100 games with a .600 winning percentage.

Cam likely waltzes in, unless character concerns undermine it. Mind, he'll need to be retired 3 years before he can be considered.

I remember that rule and dislike it intensely. What about positions that only put one player on the team? If two supernal QBs play the same time period and one is first team and the other is second team, the latter could be one of the greatest players in CFB history and still not make the HoF. The rule needs to be flexible enough to allow for such situations where the criteria are clearly influenced not by a player's ability or accomplishments but by a completely unrelated player's ability or accomplishments.

He should be a lock. Cam accomplished more in one year starting than Tebow did in 3 years of starting.

Yes.

1. A player must have received major first team All-America recognition.
2. A player becomes eligible for consideration 10 years after his last year of intercollegiate football played.
3. Football achievements are considered first, but the post-football record as a citizen is also weighed.
4. Players must have played their last year of intercollegiate football within the last 50 years.
5. The nominee must have ended his professional athletic career prior to the time of the nomination.
