He's now admitted he mailed it in at UK for the last 5 years or more, but I think that job just wore him down, and starting over to try to get his legacy back will be good motivation. Lots of money at Arky, so he should do well there. Time will tell.

He’s taken 3 schools to the Final 4, is the biggest name in college basketball, and will have double the $ to work with at Arkansas compared to Kentucky. He had a 2.5 million dollar NIL budget at UK, John Tyson has pledged 5-6 per year.

Will Dennis Gates win a conference game next year?

He won a national championship and only got a $30 million buyout. Jimbo Fisher won a national championship on a plaque at Texas A&M and then took 77 million. Use your brain.

This is irrelevant. He got almost anyone at UK...it wasn't NIL or talent that caused the fans to become disgruntled.

He had the best 1 and done talent in the country at UK. Doubling the NIL budget won't double the talent. In fairness, everyone may be paying double for the same talent in the NIL era, but the point is that talent was never the problem for Cal at UK.

Is this a serious question from someone who is a fan of the worst basketball program in the SEC?

If Ole Miss hired a coach who had coached his teams to a national championship, 3 title games, 6 final fours, 12 Elite Eights, 15 Sweet Sixteens, 18 conference championships, 29 - 20 win seasons, and 11 - 30 win seasons…you’d all be ecstatic.

Why are ole piss fans so triggered? What difference does it make to you? Beard wanted to wait for the KY job so he wouldnt sign a contract with a 3 year noncompete clause so he inked his deal with the cellar dwellers of Ole Miss. Now we hired Cal and beard will not be offered by Ky. We did you a favor. Its a win for everyone except Beard and his agent

Nope. He can recruit. On a level that will guarantee success. Do you think Kentucky would have kept holding its nose if Cal had not had elite recruits streaming to Lexington? You will put up with a lot otherwise.

We were pretty hype about Tom Crean at the time...

Then the weirdo stories started coming

The big knock on Calipari is that he wins in the regular season but not the tournament.

He has more NCAA tournament wins than the Bill Self, Tom Izzo, Bob Knight and John Wooden. Let’s keep some perspective.

Tom Crean lived off of one final four appearance at Marquette his entire career. He won just 56% of his games as a head coach.

You’re literally trying to compare Tom Crean’s career to a HOF coach?

Time will tell. You have to be excited about hiring someone with Cal's resume though. Even with how frustrating his NCAA performances have been recently.
