I just read that the 41-0 beating Georgia gave ya'll last week was the worst loss Tennessee has had since something like 1900. It also still seems like the board still has that brick by brick mentality when it comes to Tennessee for some friggin reason.
With all signs pointing to Arkansas firing up the coaching search I want to get a feel for who the competition is. If any other fan base will be getting rid of their coach before 2018 then feel free to chime in.

Tennessee is a program with a very low ceiling. Vols will never be a Bama or UF or Texas A&M.

True
Arkansas is more in that range of getting an established Power 5 D1 coach and Tennessee is in that range of mid major conference more winning years than losing years coach
They wont have competing candidates like you said

We hired an NFL coach and the best tier 2 coach in the big 10. It's hard to argue that either of those accomplishments is window dressing. The Arkansas job has definitely had it's fair share of messy, though. In Tennessee's favor theirs hasn't been as messy, not since Lane.
