Areas of concern:

(1) Neither may be a legit, top-tier SEC QB this year or any year;
(2) There is nobody waiting in the wings behind then;
(3) Even if they are above average, LSU has a very young and unproven receiving core; and
(4) Unless LSUs running game can eat up yardage and limit third downs or at least leave LSU at third and short, next year could be a very long year.

The OL should be pretty stout for this (plus Magee and LF). It's pretty hard to gauge how things will go.

Ummm, it's kind of a touchy subject on TD. Let's just say, neither are really lighting it up. Not a biggie considering one has very little experience and the other just arrived. I suppose the biggest thing is the Anthony has a years worth of practice time under Cameron, and some game experience. Brandon is fresh on the farm. And, imo, there's not much separating the two. (I think most thought Jennings would th lead with ease). So that is kind of a surprise. Most though have tremendous confidence in Cameron's ability to develop and pick the right guy.

What's funny is that everybody is saying the same thing about Harris that they did about Jennings last year (minus the cannon). "This guy looks this good and he should be going to prom. He beat out Rivers and Bolden and Rettig and he's only a true freshman!" Before Mett settled down in the spring game (he looked horrible about the first 3 or 4 drives) "Jennings is out playing Mett and he just got here. The accuracy and pocket presence, and that quick release!" The same people hyping Jennings last year are ragging on him hard this year.

So is the life of the QB that has been in the system longer than 3 months.

He underwhelmed me, nothing underwhelmed him

In the skills comp he was the least accurate QB out there and I don't remember the game specifics but I remember him being overshadowed by the other QBs

Auburn got to the NCG with Nick Marshall. Not worried about Harris.

wut? Harris has been on campus for a grand total of 5 months and he looks like a letterman at the very least.

How exactly is someone supposed to wait in the wings behind a true freshman early enrollee?

Other fans, this is what the rant has been since Saturday.

Yep, for sure. I'm confident Cameron will run an O that our talent/skill level will allow us to. I think Chief will have a better D than last year. Just have to wait to see how it all shakes out.

Only a LSU fan would think a QB going 11 for 28 constitutes "very good accuracy."

Eh depends on how you look at it Cameron's offense features a lot of TE and FB so I dont think the WR position is critical early on. Last year we didn't have the luxury of the TE position which is why we would bring in Jarvis or Odell in tight to make up for that. Now we have depth at TE and we are loaded at the FB position. Neighbors might be the best receiving fullback in the SEC.

Yeah after the UAAAG and practice week, analyst were saying Harris had the highest upside of any Qb in that class. Steve Mariucci absolutely loved him.

Beaver you're usually good but this is retarded. Harris lit up the UAAAG practices. He was the highest rated QB everyday there. In the game he threw the ball well, just took some sacks. He hit Speedy on a deep TD

Shhhh...don't tell them things they don't want to hear

I like this kid and think peeps should be on the look out for LSU this year. Dominant D/Run game for sure imo....and I think Cam knows he is going to have to get creative. But dang, it must be fun trying to dial up plays for guys like Quinn/LF/Malachi/Washington...with a very veteran line/TE group. I look forward to seeing how Cam puts this all together. Like Cam said recently:

quote:

You’re always evaluating. But I think everyone knows this: we bring young players here to play. It’s Les [Miles'] philosophy. No one plays more young players than we do to my knowledge. But the key thing is, they know, we expect them to come in and play a major role. Not just play. Not just letter. They need to take a major role and make big plays in big games and this is a freshman class that I know our current players are looking forward to playing with. And at the same time, it’s a group that’s looking forward to coming in here and playing big roles in big games.

We shall see what happens...counting down the days

Harris had 4 TDs and almost 300 yards of total offense after only a spring with the team. Obviously you "never know". But with Harris' skill set and Cam's track record I think it's obvious Harris has a great chance of being a legit SEC QB.

The other poster saying this is like 2010 is a bit off. In 2010 the offense and defense was atrocious. The defense this year will be very good and will be one of the best units in the SeC especially the secondary. The DL will be young, but there is much more talent this year than 2010 by far. I say we lose 3-4 games. But it won't be like 2010.

That Auburn team displayed the best lineman in college football with Greg Robinson, the best offensive line in college football, a Heisman finalist at running back with Tre Mason, one of the most explosive wide receivers in the country with Sammie Coates, an offensive genius with Gus Malzahn, and a wide open offense... LSU has none of that, and probably won't in the near future unless something drastic changes.

Brandon Harris has talent, but it's hard to say how good he will be right now...and he's in a completely different situation when compared to Nick Marshall. Let's also remember that Nick Marshall had a full season of Junior College as a quarterback under his belt. He was more mature and better suited to make the jump to SEC play.
