I can see USC, LSU, State, and Vandy making noise in the post season with all maybe grabbing a spot in the World Series. Will these four teams only compete with each other this year or are there some sleeper teams that will surprise the sec? Serious question/statement no troll or jimmies targeted.

It always is, even in MLB. Can't wait to see some games.

Alabama has a chance to be pretty good imho. No homer.

I think Bama, UF, aTm, OM, Arky and Tenn all could make noise. Tenn and Bama are both being overlooked right now IMO.

This. The league is pretty deep with a few sleepers. That said, there are about three-four teams that have everything it takes to get to Omaha without a fluke run.

I think MSU will win the SEC... They played the toughest schedule last season and the league office made it up to them this season.... Come out of their first 15 games with a winning record and they may finish 12-3 down the stretch. USC and Vandy will be right there too... LSU should round out the top 4.

Be more specific on which teams and which team has gotten there on a fluke run?

What's it been? 40 years? I guess it would be a fluke if your team actually made it, huh?

Pump the breaks there Priscilla. I meant as far as a Stony Brook, Indiana, Kent State, etc. Not the SEC.

Georgia could surprise people, our coach actually recruits and it wasn't that long ago we were in the CWS

Loved y'all's hire. If Georgia can keep a lot of those guys instate and from going to Tech, they'll be a force to be reckoned with for years. Also will need to update those facilities though but that's just a matter of time.

I went to the series in 2012 at Foley. Had a good friend getting his MBA there at the time. Foley is a cool park and could be a great one with a little facelift.

I think he could definitely be good in the future -- but he doesn't yet have a signing class of his own on campus yet. I think you are 2 years away from really being in your rightful place when it comes to baseball...

When things go really bad and a coach goes into cruise control in baseball, rebuilds take longer given the early signing period and how far in advance these kids are generally recruited now. IMO you are facing a very similar situation replacing Perno that we faced when replacing Polk. Took us 3 years to become even semi-relevant again -- and 5 years to consider ourselves "fully rebuilt". Not that it should take that long at UGA -- a school with no excuse to be anything other than one of the 4-5 elite baseball schools in the country on local talent alone...

They are spending $12-15mil on Foley. Was announced last week.

If they could ever build a "baseball culture" at UGA, where kids in the area grow up dreaming of playing there ahead of their MLB dreams(similar to the cultures that LSU with kids in LA) they would be a sustained dynasty no one would really be able to touch IMO. You can win national titles never going over 100mi from UGA to recruit if you could just lock up that talent.

You're sleeping on Alabama. We're going to be plenty good. Could end up hosting a regional IMHO.
