And I think using total ypg for the pass defense is a little misleading.

Auburn is in the top half of the conference in completion percentage, yards per attempt, TDs, INTs,and rating. The high ypg stat stems from Auburn ranking 13th in pass attempts defended per game.

I figured the stats would be a little misleading which is why I started this thread. I wanted to hear AU fans impressions of their D. I thought using NCAA stats was a good place to start.

That would have been impressive a year ago but, just looking at stats, defenses in the SEC this season are nothing to boast about. Alabama is the only defense in the league allowing less than 300 yards of offense per game.

wut?

Who was boasting? I simply made a deeper analysis of Auburn's pass defense which at ypg currently ranks 13th in the sec.

Second, passing defensive stats from 2013 and 2012 are extremely similar when looking at the conference as a whole. In fact, total defense is similar as well. Only Alabama and UF averaged less than 300 ypg in 2012, however, the worst defense last year is worse than the worst defense this year.

This won't be Georgia's defense out there AU isn't going to run up and down the field and if Mc Carron gets hot when Bama has the ball it will get ugly and the stands will empty fast.

Then Gus goes to Austin.

Weird. Before the game UGA had a top 20 rush defense that was going to shut Auburn down.

Now they're no better than the last 7 teams we've played.

Misleading stat, teams usually don't have to run the ball to beat Georgia and thus abandon it with a quickness.

They're likely worse than the previous 7 defenses

How many players do you still have from that defense?
Never mind

Top 20?

Try a top 5 defense and your offense becomes nonexistent

Their D is underrated. It's better than Mississippi State's, but worse than LSU and Ole Miss imo. So....WAY better than last year, but still only decent.

Even with giving up 300+ yards to auburn you are still 3rd in the league in ypc.

The SEC has maybe 4 decent defenses this year: Alabama, Florida, South Carolina, and Mizzou. Probably the worst year for D in the SEC in more than a decade

UGA's D is bad in every facet. It's young and has bad coaching. They gave up 32 ppg in SEC play on this year, and 160 ypg in SEC play on the ground.

Please list those years and the stats to back up your ridiculous claim.

Well good thing no fan on this website said they would shut down Auburns rushing attack then..........
