Ken Dorsey, running back Clinton Portis, free safety Ed Reed, wide receiver Andre Johnson, tight ends Jeremy Shockey and Kellen Winslow II, offensive tackle Bryant McKinnie, and strong safety Sean Taylor.
Miami team was stacked, and this list does not include Vilma, DJ Williams, and Phillip Buchanan.

Is it fair to say Saban is the best recruiter ever?

Yes, I think so.

Could Saban win with comparable talent or does he require an advantage there to win?

Depends on your perspective. The major components of the HC's job is recruiting, staff hires and keeping everyone on the same page. So another way to word that question is "Would Coach Saban do as well if wasn't as good an HC?" Well, probably not, but the recruiting is his job and he does it well.

This latest staff hire though, well, we'll see.

2008. Even with that 2 headed DC monstrosity Perrilloux could have changed that 17-9 stretch to something better. What a waste.

2000-2002 Miami was more talented. 1995 Nebraska may have been a better single team. But I would line 2011 or 2012 Alabama up against just about anyone.

While they may have had the most talent of any team in college football history, as far as best team ever, they wouldn't even make my top 10. A so-so schedule with 2 games (Virginia Tech, Boston College) that they could just as easily have lost...

(1) '95 Nebraska. They shoved it down your damn throat and all you did was take it.

Probably the best team I've ever seen...they beat 4 teams that finished in the final top 10...and they beat those 4 by an average score of 49-18...they had no close calls and they only trailed once all season long...

I remember the Fiesta Bowl that year; I was pullin' for UF but can remember bein' amazed when I saw Frazier run 70+ yards for a TD, seemingly breakin' a tackle from almost every defender. This led to a joke that was goin' around the ESPN post-game shows:

Question: How many Gators does it take to tackle Tommie Frazier?

Answer: Hasn't been determined yet but we know it's more than 11...
