The narrative coming into the season was this team would elite top to bottom (except quarterback) and would be able to murder ball their way to Atlanta. It was a reasonable take given their talent and the fact that we’ve seen Saban do that w previous Bama teams before. That could not be further from the truth.

Not only is this team not elite everywhere, they’re not elite ANYWHERE. Which position group? Which unit? Which coach not named Saban? Somebody make the case.

This is the worst Bama team since Saban got there in 07 and there’s really no excuse for them to be this bad.

Yeah kicker/punter, that’s real. They’re good.

That's a narrative, but not the prevailing one

And I think Kool-Aid McKinstry and Terrion Arnold are looking the part at corner

I’ll bite, what was THE prevailing narrative in your view?

I listen to a lot of college football podcasts and read just about every preview magazine cover to cover. Not to mention I spend a silly amount of time on this website. My point, it was a pretty popular narrative to say the least.

Maybe popular among people revising history to play gotcha. I read and watched about Alabama being a mystery at QB and on offense with a new coordinator, and about the dynasty looking over, and that's what's been validated on the field so far. You're saying no, that some unnamed majority swore up and down this year was Bama's year and I won't be gaslit

Josh Pate picked them win the national championship (among other prominent CFB talking heads). Many folks had them in their final 4 playoff. Guys on their OL and all over their defense are littered across preseason all sec and even some all American lists.

Yes I’m saying a majority of folks weren’t out on Bama in august. Nobody thought “questions at quarterback” would actually mean they’re all terrible.

Can’t imagine caring about something like that.

Also, LSU isn’t elite either (as much as it pains me to say). Losing in TTown to a mediocre Bama team wouldn’t be earth shattering.

the punter and kicker seem like they are top end for a cfb team.

good thing too because a lot of their drives will be ending with a punt or FG attempt

Oh but they are . 1, maybe two have a chance to get better but as bad as our OL is , it just compounds the problem . We have had 4 consecutive NFL QB (spoiled ) but the drop off has been steeper than anticipated . Bama has maybe about 3 guaranteed wins left and the rest will be dogfights / toss ups .

I never understood this burn.

It’s the sec rant, are we not supposed to talk about the teams in the sec? Do you think it’s bad take?

LSU fans don’t just talk about Alabama let’s be honest. They are obsessed with Alabama. Does LSU fans open as many threads on a 2-1 Texas A&M team or any other school?
