Another thing to think about is if Shula had been retained in 2007, most of the stars of that 2008 class like Julio & Mark Ingram end up elsewhere.

Saban didn't initially choose Dante. He chose Brees - Miami's doctors didn't clear Brees' physical.

Mal Moore gave Shula one last chance to stay.He told him he had to make staff changes, specifically Dave"Darby up the middle for no gain on every third and short"Rader had to go.Shula refused.

This is true... straight from Saban's mouth. Saban called the doctor who did both of their surgeries and asked him what he thought. Doc told him to pick Brees because he has a better work ethic. Saban took Dante and the rest is history

I'm not calling all this total BS, but the last line is absolute BS.

Saban did not pick Culpepper. It was a money situation that the bean-counters handled. Saban wanted Brees all along. Brees would cost too much money vs the salary cap. Saban said it was one more notch in favor of college ball. He can go and recruit/land top notch talent year after year with out having to worry about some VP or President of the organization over-ruling him.

Even with Tebow, Alabama is not 10-0 in 2006.

We beat Arkansas, Tennessee, and Mississippi State with Tebow. Those were games we could and should have won in 2006. So instead of 6-6 we finish 9-3.

Did Tebow seriously consider Alabama?

Tebow was never going to Alabama.

that's the thing, if tebow wasn't there and cam was the starter, cam more than likely wouldn't have been dismissed.

I will look at this later.

Miami passing on Brees probably lead to Alabama’s dynasty.

Had they felt comfortable and he wanted to sign there then they probably win a few more games. That probably keeps Saban at least another season and Alabama hires someone else.

Brees affected Louisiana by proving them a winning NFL franchise and Super Bowl, but it also allowed rival Alabama to hire Saban faster and build a dynasty.

I’ll watch the Tebow thing soon though.

It really appears he was going to Florida no matter what. I thought I heard Tebow really liked LSU as well.

No, the Dolphins signing Culpepper instead of Brees is the main reason.

Yep huge domino in a chain of events. If Drew Brees goes to the Dolphins the Saints never win a Super Bowl and the Saban dynasty at Bama doesn't happen. Not they wouldn't have hired a great coach and probably win a title or 2 but nothing like Saban has done. And Saban has probably led to a slew of coaching changes or changes that never happened

Richrod played zero defense.

Yeah, you shouldn't just post shite like this without fact checking.

West Virginia finished #5 in defensive s&p+ in '07. Even before that they hovered around the top 30 or so most of his time there.

Richrod was an elite x and o's coach. He may not have made it here but it would've been for reasons off the field or the game eventually catching up with him as has happened now.
