When Auburn has a coach resign, let me know. I'll climb out on the ledge.

Did the Jerry Lawler news not suffice or ease your appetite of rumors and innuendo?

The latest from Jay G. Tate:

Jay G. Tate **Reset on The Memphis Story or Stories Reply
This has been a hot topic here and I wanted to address it as best I can.
I know ESPN is working on a story about Memphis as a messy confluence of talented high-school players, a school system in dire straits and some local hangers-on who perhaps wield too much influence.
I believe Yahoo! Sports also is working on a similar story.
The Jovon Robinson Situation piqued the interest of national organizations like ESPN. Someone admitted to making an impermissible grade change and the player in question, as we all know, played at Auburn last month. That's an interesting story.
Then MSU assistant coach Angelo Mirando resigned in August. He recruited Memphis for MSU, which added additional allure to any story targeting Memphis recruiting. A subsequent report in the Jackson (Miss.) Clarion-Ledger indicated that a booster was disassociated for improper dealings in Memphis. The plot thickens.
Keep in mind that many SEC programs recruit in and around Memphis.
I am told that ESPN hasn't uncovered anything directly implicating Auburn in anything.
I'm not sure where Yahoo! Sports' story is heading.
I don't know if this post eases your concerns or stokes them. I just wanted to make sure we had a clear reset about what we know, what we think we know and what we think will happen.

so lemme get this straight....msu yet again has a coach involved in improper benefits, disassociates a booster, yet AU is the boogeyman?

Kyle Veazey is on 97.3 in Birmingham. Says the DeVinner ordeal and the Jovon stories are separate and that the NCAA is definitely asking about Auburn in Memphis. He said the Jovon transcript story is the most important story in Memphis and that if Auburn receives a NOA, they have 7 days to deny whatever is in the letter.

Also emphasizing that the Memphis/Jovon story is a much bigger story than the DeVinner story.

I agree. But he's in a much better position to know what he's talking about than Thayer Evans was.

He also said that "MSU has thrown itself at the mercy of the court". Whatever that means. I guess they came clean about everything.

No shite. They don't actually have investigative reporters. The best you'll get from them is a tabloid piece of misinformation on Outside the Lines that will never be retracted no matter how wrong it was.
Yahoo on the other hand....
ETA: This isn't a comment on any schools probability of being caught doing anything. Just commenting on how inept ESPN is at most things they attempt.

I don't see a lot coming out of this for either school. The NCAA figures AU is already on probation with Chizik as HC and MSU people have to live in Starkville. No need to pile on.
