I also saw that the attendance was 68k. Why not have it in a larger stadium where more can attend? I agree no one wants to go to Indiana in January.

Why is the NCAA HQ in Indianapolis anyway?

We are headed to West Yellowstone to snowmobile but again, you can dress appropriately vs piling into a stadium in 5 layers.
Exactly.

Switzerland is top of my list, the cold is worth it there. Most beautiful place on Earth.

2021 was a tough year for the wife and me. Her dad passed away December 8, 2020. Her mom last week of March and my mom 10 days later.

We decided to go to Switzerland for a month. Going to

Zurich
Basel
Lucerne
Montreux
Zermatt
Geneva.

Will fly to Paris on December 22 for a week and spend Christmas there. Going to the Christmas markets is something we have always wanted to do.

I am retired from Delta Air Lines, so we fly for free, and her job is very good and they are always willing to work with us.

Awesome, the train and cable cars are miraculous, they take you near summit on several mountains and run through the Eiger. Highest train station in Europe. Many glacier fields. Plus amazing cheese and chocolate.

Have fun.

For over 50 years the NCAA HQ was in KC. It was selected as being an unbiased centrally located location. KC still holds the record for hosting the most NCAA Basketball Championships. As the NCAA grew, they moved from downtown to the suburbs. The NCAA then complained that they were to far from the airport (no idea why they decided to move farther away from the airport from downtown), and also that they weren't getting enough visitors in the newly built Visitor Center. In the late 90's, KC was not investing much in infrastructure in Midtown-Downtown, and was not willing to build a large arena or stadium to host NCAA events (Municipal was falling apart and not nearly big enough). Indianapolis won the bid to relocate with the RCA Dome being a focal point (which was later demolished for Lucas Oil).

NCAA in KC was corrupt as hell (see ku grads that worked there).

Heard they didnt win, they were gifted the bid instead without a bid process.

It makes sense as they were really poorly prepared and left millions on the table in merchandise, food, beverage, hotels.

Like they barely cared.

Nashville has far more things to do outside the game ....

Fun fact- The geese on the canal only appear to shite at the NCAA HQ. The ducks stay at the far end of the canal away from NCAA HQ.

Correct. They were called and told it was coming there. ..that was many years ago though. I wouldn’t say they weren’t prepared ..they just didn’t have to earn the business.

The fact there wasn’t even an attempt at a half time show was ridiculous. Take one or two of the bands that played at monument square and have them perform two songs.

I love the way it is in New Orleans. Go there, park your car at the hotel and not have to see it until you check out. Can walk everywhere.

Always said, the best place is a mixture of New Orleans and Miami. (Put the stadium at South Beach and it would be the perfect place).

really bad call by the NCAA

NCAA had nothing to do with CFB playoffs.

Blame the CFB playoff selection committee.I have no doubt it was the ND influence that got the game in Indy.

Indy was great from a stay at hotel and walk perspective. A large number of hotels close. It just isn't a party city really built for that. Have been to several large trade shows and events.

What they should have done was use the convention center for more open parties from local businesses.

It was hard to get into most sports bars to even get a drink. Three different hotels with friends staying were all under staffed at the bar also.

I love the Midwest. Slower pace of life than Atlanta. I dig the values. The Great Lakes are beautiful and a boating and fishing paradise. The deer are the size of cattle. People are super friendly. Random strangers strike up conversations with you in the grocery store. I never see that down here anymore. The winters are brutal but it's not like it's Antarctica. Gives you a chance to snuggle up with one of those pretty little Midwestern farm girls. Ohio and Michigan folks get the appeal and love NCAA football although we own them.
