I have been all over the South and to stadiums/college towns throughout the SEC. In the 1990's, Starkville was abysmal and the Miss. St. football experience was a joke. It still might not be as large or intense as other settings, but it has definitely made the most improvement over the past 15 years or so.

The new stadium is really nice. Light years ahead of where it used to be.

Tailgating is everywhere before the games. Lots of new things for fans and tons of people gathering before games. It didn't used to be that way.

Lots of energy during the games and stuff for fans throughout. Everything is new, clean, and very user friendly.

Starkville is a completely different town. Main Street has restaurants and bars lining the street and people were everywhere.

Having been to a game this season, I just wanted to say that it is a completely different place than it used to be and State deserves a lot of credit for updating and advancing into the 21st century. The whole community seems to be behind the University and team and I think that State has a bright future far beyond this season.

Very impressed. The days of State being a pushover are gone, I think.

We've still got a long way to go, but it's getting there. It'll be a whole different place once the Cotton Mills projects is fully realized...

State/Starkville has probably made the biggest jump of any school/town I know of in the SEC. The whole atmosphere was completely different than it used to be. LOTS to be proud of there.

The thing is that now that State fans/alumni have had a taste of winning and spent a month ranked at #1, they aren't going backwards. They will invest more and and expect more results. Not saying that State will win the SEC every year, but the days of there not be a single restaurant open past 11pm except for the Krystal and no one gathering to tailgate are over.

State fans will demand more. They have to get their budget up, though.

And never again TRAVEL to play AT South Alabama. That kind of thing has to end now.

I am a native of Louisiana and a life long LSU fan, but a Miss. State graduate. Been pulling for State ever since I went to school there, but my heart was always with LSU. LSU is #1 and State is #1a. On this board, I am an LSU fan so as not to confuse everything, but, I pull for State every game and am a legitimate State fan and am proud of what my university is doing.

If they win a title this year, they can cancel the football program as far as I'm concerned. Could care less about the future. I never thought I'd see the saints win a Superbowl and don't care if they ever go back. I saw the one. Feel the same way about state.
