You dummy...Missouri also borders eight states which means that Tennessee doesn't hold that honor by herself.

I can't stand geographically challenged people.

Sorry bro/sis. It's just that no one counts Mizzou unless it's an election year and then we all get a history less about how Mizzou is a bellwether state. Plus, you're kind of square and too far away from the East coast, even when we zoom out on our weather maps you rarely show up.

Cheer up though. Newscaster Standard aka the Mizzou Accent is becoming THE dominant American Accent and in another generation or two both North and South will sound like you're crazy asses.

How's that? I simply made the observation that you took the time to respond in a thread about the TSIO. Sounds like you have your feelings hurt because no one will pay attention to you. I would tell you it will get better, but you are an LSU fan and well.. it won't.

I was flying from New Orleans to DC last week. Idly looking out the window, I noticed something… while over Alabama, the fields, farms and towns were neatly laid out, geometric lines in squares, rectangles of various size. Upon crossing the border, all that changed. It looked like a kindergartener had randomly scrawled the shape of property. I suspect this is related to why the shape of Tennessee has that squashed rectangle look… its likely the Tennesseans charged with surveying the boundaries were so moonshine drunk they couldn’t draw a right angle. Some things never change.

You might also take into account that there are hills and mountains and rivers in Tennessee that make it much harder to square off property lines.

One of the few things Tennessee is famous for is country music, and I do mean kow-one-tree. I heard this years ago. As you know, Johnny Cash wrote the song “Ring of Fire” when he started living in Nashville. But did you know “I fell in to a burning ring of fire…” referred to moving to Tennessee and going to hell?

As you obviously don't know, "Ring of Fire" was written by June Carter Cash.

We Bama fans literally hate these Hillbillies. Fat Phil will never be forgiven, or forgotton, as a snitch.

Auburn is our rival also, mostly because of family inside the borders, like a Hatfield- Mac Coy feud ongoing. But HATE is not really the proper way to describe Aubie....

I have 2 nieces and a Nephew who graduated from Auburn, so we pick at each other,but hate, and bitterness we reserve for the Vols...

Anybody else unable to read that for the creeping 'Dueling Banjos' coming up in their head and drowning it out with not one banjo kid but two?

Wrong answer. Google "metes and bounds" and/or "Township and Range."

Still, since few know the reason for the mishmash in Tennessee, and the general order in Alabama, it can be reasonably blamed on the hillybilly population. And it should be... EVERYTHING bad can be traced back to Tennessee. If I stub my toe, I instinctively say "damn those vols..."

What you don't realize is...Tennessee is really the reason you stubbed your toe.

Thank you for the foreshadowing for Saturday, btw.

uhhh... no one actually knows where Missouri is ... and if they do know, they; (a) don't give a shite, (b) don't tell anyone.

I think it has more to do with which 7 states you border (after deducting for each state touching the other)

Tennessee = 7 southern states - 0 yankee states = 7
(5) SEC : Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Kentucky, and Mississippi
(2) ACC : North Carolina and Virginia

Missouri = 2 southern states - 5 yankee states = -3
(3) B1G : Illinois, Iowa, and Nebraska
(2) B12 : Kansas and Oklahoma
(2) SEC : Arkansas and Kentucky

7 > -3
Vols win!

Tennessee...#1 in SEC for most presidents.

Let me check that....Damnit...tied with Texas for most at 3.

But Tennessee is the only SEC state to have had a president impeached...

Aaaand....Damnit, Arkansas...you stole that one from us, too.

I can't wait for this week to get over with so I won't have to watch our fans try so hard to keep a dead rivalry alive.
