In all seriousness. From what I understand a lot of the credit should go to their strength & agility program and those coaches. It is supposed to be one of the best. That is how by the time these 2 & 3 stars recruits are juniors they are equivalent to 4 & 5 star. recruits physically.
Dr. Pat Ivey. That man...
I love seeing our athletes compete and have an obvious conditioning advantage. Ivey is a gift for Mizzou, and I hope we can hang onto him for his entire career.

Pinkel looks at the frame and athleticism, for example if kid is 6' 3"/ 210 lbs and played two positions in high school MIZZOU has a potential LB,DE,TE,WR etc. I think Pinkel likes that type of athlete, gives them flexibility to mold a kid into a position where they may not have gotten a top recruit signed. Main thing is to get them signed and let the strength and conditioning coaches go to work and see what their optimum playing weight is going to be when they reach 19-21 yrs of age and what position best suits their abilities.

Meanwhile Mizzou gets whoever and has an elite line. If I was an SEC East team with a better brand (say a Tenn) I will basically offer every lineman Mizzou offered and try to steal them because obviously they are onto something
It isn't just "whoever," but I get your point. This is a hidden talent of Pinkel's system. They have a pseudo secret physical evaluation method and if a recruit scores high on it, regardless of background, they offer the kid a scholarship. Our current backup DE and next stud is a kid who only played 2 years of organized football and no D1 college offered him other than Mizzou.
It is also how they found elite players like Sean Witherspoon and Danario Alexander but it normally provides damn good unheard DL players.

Your guy can't win without 4/5* talent. My guy can.
It's also odd the "lack of talent" we have always seems to translate pretty high in the NFL draft.
If you go by the last several years we are top 5 in first round picks, and look like we'll have a couple more this year.

A perfect example is Charles Harris; never played FB until a senior (I think) in HS but he did play BB. Next year everyone will know his name.

I think at the college level, Elite strength and speed will only take a defensive lineman so far, especially at defensive end. A fast and strong bullrusher will look very average against a good and/or experienced offensive line.
A guy with average/above average speed and strength with a great spin move, swim move, or dip and rip can make even a good offensive lineman look bad.
Technique is crucial to success, and they definitely coach that at Mizzou.
When the rare combination of speed, strength, size and technique is in one player, you've got yourself a PRO will have a great career.

He's really been able to capitalize on weak divisions for his success:
2007 Big 12 North Champion
2008 Big 12 North Champion
2010 Big 12 North Champion
2013 SEC East Champion
2014 Probably SEC East Champion
Has yet to win a conference championship though
