In defense of Jalen Hurts.......

I understand why some of our fans and other not so subtle trolls of other SEC team fans are on this kid. Reality... his lack of down field touch could cost Bama a game. I recognize that, and not trying to downplay it.
I also watched Baker Mayfield and Lamar Jackson lose this weekend to opponents that their teams should of beat making stupid mistakes. Hurts hasn't turned the ball over since the Auburn game last year. I know part of this narrative is try to find anyone on Alabama's team to call a weakness for alot of people.
It's not one Qb in the SEC, I would choose over Hurts right now. Both Georgia QBs have NFL upside, Stidman is a stud also. As a college QB I still like Hurts, because when a play breakdown you need to make a play with your feet. The 7 out of last 10 National champions have been led by DT style QBs.

Geeez people. Jalen Hurts is a boss. We have lost one game with him as our QB--and he did all anyone could do to win that Clemson game. I really don't see that he needs defending at all!

Jalen Hurts is a monster on the ground and doesn't make mistakes. People need to stop judging him like Bama requires him to be a pocket passer. It is easy to say all you need to do is make him throw. Lets see a team actually do that first.

Mac Jones is the best QB on the roster he's getting screwed Saban sucks

I was a little slow to come around on Jalen last year, but when he got ear holed in the ole miss game. That won me over, and he has proven to be a pretty dang good QB.

LOL. I saw more ability from that true freshman kid A&M started last Saturday than I've seen from Hurts in two years. Fromm, Stidham and Fitzgerald are better QBs. Shea Patterson is a superior QB as well. He's just stuck in a terrible situation on a team going nowhere.

You don't say?
Clemson 13 of 31, 42% completion for 131
So I think you are wrong there. But I also think that it is working right now and it would be a mistake to make a change at the QB position.

This kid does look like the future of the quarterback position.

There are more than a few who probably could have done better in that game. I love Hurts and wouldn't trade him, but he did not play well in that game

His bangs could use a little work. But he's on the right track.

Just imagine the QB fan battles when Bryant's great grandson signs with Alabama in 2019.

4th in the country in QB rating.
I think he's the 3rd leading rusher in the SEC.
He's a winner.
I like his demeanor. College football version of Kawhi Leonard.

Why would you need to defend the qb of a team ranked number one and undefeated?
Just point to the record.

Truth is, Hurts had us in position to win the game against Clemson. The offense drove down the field and took the lead. It was up to the defense then to stop Watson. They did not.
