Sloane loses in straight sets to Azarenka next though
Everyone says that she has the potential to be #1 in the world though.

Might even get up to start with but she showed no ability to close out today.
Beating Serena isn't closing?
Admittedly, I don't watch much tennis. I watch about ten times more golf than tennis, but beating Serena is pretty damned good.

Nope, she'll steal the first set. Vika rolls her in the final two.
Maybe... I see her getting up early in the first and giving up the lead. Same premise, just don't think she closes out a full set. Could be wrong though.

Yup. I told her and showed her the message and she got all defensive. I'm not gonna reply to that girl though. When I say we can't be friends and I'm not going to talk to you, I mean it.
Probably the best thing to do. Women are crazy though.

She just got a huge confidence boost just now. Plus, it's a different dynamic with Vika too. She just beat her idol.

Oh I know. Luckily, my girl hasn't shown any signs of crazy yet.
Just weird and awkwardness. Like me.

Fair point. Glad to see her in a semi-final of a major though. Hope she can turn this into more positive gains in the future. Need American men to pull their heads out of their asses now too. Looked at jobs with USTA recently but "Junior Tennis Program Shitkicker" is not currently listed as an available opening.

Along with about 25 other players.
Sloane will be a world #1 at some point though. She's damn good

Hopefully there are some new players coming along. Isner and Querry aren't going to cut it.

Tried to give the match away multiple times. Serena at 80% and not serving well again until late in the 3rd set. Should not have been terribly close in the 3rd. Nearly gave the 2nd away as well. Good win for her but no style points awarded for sure. This was a heady match for her though as Serena is definitely her idol. I should give her a pass I guess.

Love him as a Dawg fan but kind of a one/two trick pony. Courts are so much slower now everywhere that his serve isn't enough anymore. Also, the avg. speed of serve is up much higher now than 10 years ago.

Querry
Decent player but I agree

This guy can ball. Needs to find a way to utilize his net game more often. Everyone says that you can't win at the net in modern tennis (singles) but I disagree.

Well, usually the crazy creeps out early. That's good for you.

Like I said, I don't watch much. I loosely keep up.

Today begins the fun part though. She flew back to Boston to finish up her last semester of her Master's Program in Opera Performance.
She comes back in May

I would love to see net play come back, but the game is just so much more powerful than it was when the serve and volley was in it's hay day.
That's my style personally, but I've also been known to bust out the old wood racquet from time to time.
ETA: Chardy time

That's not that long. It's already almost February.

Yup. And then she's most likely moving to ATL.

Well, that's no time from Auburn.
Been through Auburn/Opelika on the way back from the beach a couple of times, and it's a smooth, albeit boring drive.

They should make ATL to Montgomery 3 lane the entire way, considering more and more truck traffic is traveling that road, especially with Kia in West Point and Hyundai in Montgomery.

Yeah, it's a boring drive between Montgomery and Atlanta.
It's quicker coming from the beach through Bama than Georgia though.

It's gotten better. The only real boring parts are from Peachtree City to the AL/GA state line, and Wire Rd to Shorter.
