Kentucky Expo Center. I think it's by Freedom Hall.

Cool cool. Yeah it's pretty big. The new Conventional Center downtown is too. Shame you're up here in the winter and can't enjoy some racing while you're here too. Whereabouts are you staying? Coming out of the Expo Center (take the loop around where it puts you out on Crittenden Dr.) if you take Crittenden down to Eastern Parkway, make a right, then down to Bardstown Rd. and make a left onto Bardstown Rd. there's restaurants and bars for days. And much better than 4th Street Live.

I've fished up that way a few times, but never have made it to duck hunt. For that matter I've never actually duck hunted.

Also, saw the biggest covey of wild quail I've ever seen today. They mulled around under my stand for nearly twenty minutes. Seeing 12 wild quail isn't a common sight around here anymore unfortunately.

Was there last year for New Years. Poor emts next to me got to see the fireworks in Jackson, then immediately went out on a call.

First homicide of 2012, most likely.

I mean, it's the family land. I can do whatever I want. But since we only have two solid coveys I wouldn't do it. There just aren't enough for a huntable population. I wouldn't feel right taking birds out of an already struggling population.

It's a damn tourist trap I tell you.

Especially now that they're closing The Improv. That place rotates places constantly.

At the very least if you get the chance before you leave, check out Proof on Main at the 21c Museum Hotel (with the giant gold David out front). Go the same way you went to 4th Street but make a left on Main Street and follow it down.

If you make a right on Main from 4th Street you can also hit Bluegrass Brewing Company if you're a craft beer fan.

I've never been. The duck hunting in this part of Alabama just isn't worth it. I'm predominantly a turkey hunter. Quail have always held my interest more than any other game species though. I would give anything for wild quail to make a comeback in this region.

I was in Louisville for the 4th of July a few years ago. Pretty good firework presentation. Not as good as Seattle

I love it. I also love cooking duck. Actually, the cooking tends to be better

4th of July is decent but if you want the big deal Thunder Over Louisville to kick off the Derby Festival in April is the way to go.

I've got a lab that will retrieve and a bird dog that will point, yet I don't get to do either.

The parents golden was supposed to be a duck dog. It hates water.
