That list is not from the 2013 season

No we don't. If you finish the season after championship weekend 8th, why should you deserve a spot? 4 is perfect.
Because (just using this year as an example), Alabama would beat the frick out of all the following teams and it's not fair that Auburn had to face Alabama and win to get to the NC game, but these guys didn't even come remotely close:
1. Florida State
4. Michigan State
5. Stanford
6. Baylor
Using your method, those teams get an equal shot without going through Alabama. You really think Michigan State belongs in the playoffs this year?
Top 4 teams in would result in this seeding and likely results:
1 Florida State -- 5 Stanford
2 Auburn -- 4 Michigan State
One-loss Michigan State and two-loss Stanford get a shot over Alabama, is what you are saying.
Now Top 8:
1 Florida State – 8 Missouri
2 Auburn – 7 Ohio State
3 Alabama – 6 Baylor
4 Michigan State – 5 Stanford

This is why I say in the future being the SEC will hurt our chances of playing for a Natty. ACC/Big/PAC 12/10 all have the advantage on going undefeated.

Yea, I think fsus SOS is in the 60s this year.

That is ok, they will be schooled in the NC. We have all seen this movie before. Greatest offense ever! (OU).
Auburn will make it 8 in a row.

A team of only offense saying that Michigan State shouldn't be worthy?
Look at what the expansion has done to the SEC...................
I guess MWC teams deserve it too

To be fair.
This had a lot to do with the pre season SEC hype also. I'm not taking anything away from our conference, but when you usually have 3-5 teams in the top10 almost every pre season poll it inflates your SOS

And the #38 team will win by a rather large margin. Book it.

Everybody on that list already got their shot at Auburn besides USCe.

Not sure I really believe Bama had the #2 SOS in the country. However, if Barn wants to face Bama again instead of FSU thats up to them.

College football is the only sport where a result in week 1 can ruin the rest of the season.
I'm all for a 4 or 8 team playoff, if you are a fan of one of the perennial best teams in the country (as I am) then you want your team to have a shot. I don't care if we go 12-0 in the regular season and get jobbed, I want to know that if our QB pulls a hammy in week 1 and we drop our first game, then destroy everyone we still can get our shot.
Only allowing conference champions allows is just allowing for non-legit national champions. 4 team playoff conference champs only,
Hypothetically
Duke wins ACC
Mizzou wins SEC
Texas wins Big 12
Stanford wins Pac 12
Mich St. wins Big 10.
4 team playoff
Mizzou vs. Stanford
Mich St. vs. Duke
Wouldn't that have been a real treat to watch!
Leaving out 1 loss Alabama and OSU, and penalizing Auburn for playing a conference championship.
Take the 4 best teams, regardless of who wins their conference. Strength of Schedule should always be one of the most important deciding factors.
Why penalize a team for playing 4 top 10 teams, not all conference schedules are equal.
LSU fans bitch about Alabama playing Kentucky and UT from the east, yet they then complain that a non-SEC champion shouldn't get into the title game.
Which is it?

Oh good, glad to know pre-CCG NIU would be a top candidate.

that ranking is preposterous. Bama at #2? Tennessee at #31

What should it be? Did FSU have a tougher schedule than the 37 teams ahead?
