He is definitely a good coach. We are about to find out if he is a great coach. He took a huge risk betting on himself here, which tells me a lot about him.

This is a myth. Notre Dame admissions are not very stringent

quote:

Full Admission
Ordinarily, a student will be granted Full Admission when the following conditions have been met:

2.5 cumulative grade point average on a 4.0 scale, and
Minimum ACT score of 19/ SAT score of 900, or
Evidence of the potential for academic success as profiled on the academic transcripts and in a personal interview.

He's very awkward and any coach on LSU's list would do equally well

It's a combination of things, their class workload is heavier than most SEC programs for instance, the admissions are just a part of it.

There are a lot of kids playing football in the SEC that wouldn't cut it at Notre Dame.

This looks to be false. Everyone is hazing LSU over Brian per Rant standards, but I think MOST know he will have success at LSU.

I havent waded through this entire thread.

I agree with you.

But

There are a lot of kids playing at Notre Dame who should have stayed in the SEC but left because it is Notre Dame.
For every athlete that they pass on, they gain an athlete from somewhere across the entire country to choose their academics and religious affiliation.

I can't comment on the workload, etc. but lsu has higher minimum admission requirements than Notre Dame.

I am not so sure about this either. Most of the football players that I have met at A&M over the years have been pretty intelligent people.

I believe ND is a great school with a lot of tradition and a great history. Academically, I think they are pretty average.

Theoretically, that should be true but we all know that most elite high school football players care very little about Notre Dame's academics or religious affiliation.

I mean, that simply isn't true.

One's view of another's intelligence is highly subjective.

For instance, you say they're highly intelligent, however, you also think that LSU's minimum academic requirements are higher than Notre Dame's.

He is a great coach. It's an awkward fit though. If he fails it will be because of LSU being LSU. The swamp people are a strange bunch that have a hard time not screwing themselves over.

I think he will do better than most non LSU people on here think he will.

I don't think he'll do as well as the purple and yellow folk think he will.

I’m not sure why anyone would expect anything besides him doing well. He has won big every where he has been. He has done it at 4 different stops that are all really on different levels each with its own challenges. Dude has proven to be versatile/adaptable and a winner

That southern speaking grinder dude couldn’t win big games or bowl games. Most ND fans wanted him gone years before LSU gave them their fondest wish. He couldn’t win against UGA and tried twice. And now for some strange reason LSU thinks he’s a coaching genius. Crazy

You underestimate the size of the country.
Kyle Hamilton went to a catholic high school. He loved uga, but he chose the degree from notre dame over the uga coaches. There are Kyle Hamiltons all over the country. There are over 1200 catholic high schools with over 500,000 students.
The school that kyle went to had 2 players drafted this season.
