LSU finally had a reciprocable conference rivalry game. We're not without our rivalry series in conference but each of those teams have a more primary rival
Bama > Auburn, Tennessee
Auburn > Bama, UGA
Florida > UGA, FSU
Ole Miss > State
For years after expansion, they tried to make Arkansas-LSU a thing but it never really took. When Aggie joined up considering the series history and them no longer playing Texas this game seemed like a natural to become the year ending heated rivalry. The 74-72 game added some bragging rights for Aggie and some salt for LSU fans. LSU comes back the next year and wins 50-7. Thats the kinda stuff that fuels the fun.
Now with Texas joining, that series will heat up again and become the primary rivalry game. Run home Aggie. You belong with Texas. The day it becomes official, Daniel can dickride Bama for the 2009 National Championship win over Texas. The way it was always meant to be.

It will be BS if we don’t play every year under the new format. I don’t see the mutual dislike going anywhere as long as it remains an annual matchup

Never really cared about LSU or Mizzou. I was fine with LSU.

The Southland is is looking to replace 4 Texas teams. A&M, TCU, and Baylor is a good start

I hope we keep playing but obviously it'll be the same kind of thing we've got with the others. Usually a big game that's looked forward to but for y'all there's another bigger rivalry game to look forward to.
Just IMO but I thought LSU-Aggie has potential to grow into that type of hate filled series over the next few decades...and yes it would take decades where students of the SEC era had grown up and attended without the Texas game and their kids grow up hating LSU etc.

I’d have never seen aggy as a rival. They were fun to bully because they’ve been the runt of every league they’ve been in.
Fortunately their daddy is moving in with us so we don’t have to babysit them anymore

We will see how the schedules work out. I would assume A&M Texas goes back to Thanksgiving but who knows. But there’s 10 years of kids who went to A&M now who don’t know playing Texas but do know playing LSU. There was always lingering dislike among the older generation for LSU from our historical matchups and there’s room for two rivals as you posted above. I think there will be plenty of animosity from our end
