I cant think of a time when this go-to jab means any less than it does right now.

You've got to learn when to use this son. Maybe when you're older.

LSU fan your "Saban Psychosis Syndrome" is manifesting its symptoms and you should probably head back to the Tiger Rant -- the place where everybody that's allowed to post freely is like you.

You mean like he did also when he was at Miami and that player collapsed on the field and he walked right over him?

So what? You think Vince Lombardi would have done something else? Let the trainer address the player's health issues.

Football is HARD and requires superhuman focus. If a player has to go to the hospital you stop practice? No. Go see the young man in the hospital after practice.

If you want a Plush Toy to be your head coach, you are going to have a Plush Toy program.

The effective leader DRIVES his men to superhuman effort at the appropriate times. After the hard work is over and it is time to rest, there is plenty of time to address issues of care, compassion and morale.

When Vince Lombardi drilled his Offensive Line on the Sled Push Drill, did he stand on the sled to make it harder or did he push with his men to make it easy for them?

I do love how you Gumps will never understand it. Oh it is easy bashing an LSU fan every time they have some ill feeling to say about Saban or Bama. For just one moment I would love for y'all to think about being in our shoes, just for a moment.

Saban leave Bama and goes back to the NFL. Doesn't make it and oh lets say he comes back to the SEC at Auburn or Miss State. Brings them to the power that Bama is at. No ill feelings at all?

I guess Florida never could feel that way(I am guessing they didn't) about Spurrier because he didn't do anything at USCe for the most part.

I didn't even realize what he was talking about at first because it was so irrelevant to the main thought of the thread.

We don't have to put ourselves in those shoes, because it won't ever happen.

What makes Saban great is a psychological compulsion. Maybe even a disorder. For those who can't see it, I'm here to tell you. It's involuntary and part of who he is, and why he acts the way he does. It's plain as day to some of us. It can't be duplicated.

Again....I don't know any Bama fan that wouldn't take that loss every year if the result is the same.

Hell, I'd put that score in my sig line as long as I can put the national championship trophy as my avatar.

Oh yeah, I can...because 38-0, 45-40. 4/7.

Yes but that's not the point of the thread! The point is to have your program direct a systematic well-organized survey and analysis of Saban's methods, and learn from that.

Yes, it was horrible luck for LSU the way things worked out with Saban to NFL to Alabama. No doubt. It would have been much more fair for Coach Saban to go coach, say, Notre Dame or somewhere else, maybe out west. YES, Alabama was lucky to get him. But that's not the point of the thread AND there's no reason to retain so much emotion over what happened.

The point of the thread is that Saban copied Coach George Perles so everybody is free to copy Saban's methods. But beware, his methods probably involve spending almost all of your waking hours working. If your coach is content with his current situation, he may not be willing to pay the price that Saban pays.

Yeah...Bear Bryant didn't go off to the NFL and then come back and beat our arse with a different team like Saban does yours. So, I'm sorry, I don't get your point.

You have no idea how we should act.

Congrats on hypothetically acting better during your hypothetical dynasty. You're truly a class act, hypothetically

The human experiences written as military history and the history of football demonstrate that this is wrong.

Vince Lombardi was a poor Sicilian boy from New York. His parents were poor immigrants and certainly knew nothing about football. They didn't raise a magic boy or some kind of mutant football coach cyborg -- they raised a man willing to pay the price to attain Greatness.

Greatness has a cost. Not many are willing to pay the full price to attain it, because, these things are very hard, and man can be very comfortable without having attained Greatness.

I'm reminded now about a Derek Jeter story. His first year or so in the minor leagues. He wasn't doing so well. He was very homesick and spoke to his parents almost every night often in tears -- OFTEN with talk of quitting. This state of mind lasted over a year, maybe longer, Derek doesn't dwell on that time, so we don't know. But the point is that it took him years to attain Greatness -- years of incredible devotion to his craft.

If your leader isn't striving to attain Greatness, and Greatness is YOUR goal? You hope he changes his tune or you take over his position or you move on to another organization.

I have an idea of how every person intensely interested in football should act. The great coaches' unspoken lesson to us all. Look at our own pursuits and ask ourselves if we are committed to attain Greatness? Is that our goal? If so, then, how do we get there? Are we doing what it takes? If not, what to do differently?

And, if we DO attain Greatness, be humble and respectful, just like the great coaches' example set for us.
