which one of the following programs will the Bulldogs most resemble?

1. Nick Saban at Alabama
2. Urban Meyer or Steve Spurrier at Florida
3. Les Miles at LSU
4. Dabo Swinney at Clemson during the CFP era.

No offense to LSU or Clemson, but I personally believe that UGA's best would be better than both of these programs' runs durning the above mentioned time periods. Why? The state of Georgia. Don't get me wrong, Louisiana has great high school football talent per capita, but Georgia's overall population will become three times what Louisiana's population is within the next ten years. Furthermore, Georgia is objectively the fourth best state in the country in terms of high school football talent. If Kirby is able to put a fence around Georgia and keep the elite players home, as well as capitalizing on some key out of state prospects here and there, the Dawgs should be better than LSU during the Miles years and Clemson right now under Dabo.

Now I also think it would be too much to expect a Saban at Bama type run. What Saban has done at Alabama from 2007-present is one of the most successful runs in college football history.

That's why I think that the Bulldogs will most resemble a Florida type run under Meyer or Spurrier, should we reach our full potential. Meyer's time at Florida was short but he was able to win multiple SEC and National Championships. Florida only won one national championship under Spurrier but they won 6 SEC championships while he was there. I think the Bulldogs are capable of duplicating that kind of success under Smart.

I hope your "full potential" is coming short of a national championship another 30 years.

I would think he could be like Dabo.

That is not a knock on GA. Clemson is having a hell of a run.

I just think the Alabama thing is almost impossible to match.

Kirby's proven he can recruit, and in getting the Dawgs to the natty in only his 2nd year as HC, he's proven he can coach. I think Kirby will stick around at Georgia for at least a decade or more. I think he'll rule the SEC East.
I think his success will be somewhere between Spurrier's and Saban's.

His ex-boss walked into a SEC with Florida and LSU, programs with the same "if they ever figure it out" background as Georgia, rolling. The ex-boss was taking over for Mike Shula and having to build a program from scratch.

Saban is scared as shite about falling behind on his 47 minute mark practice drill. His entire life is built around being scared of failure. Nothing new here.

Yea - anyone who takes that as an insult has insanely unrealistic expectations.

Dabo's last 6 years
- 72-11 (42-6)
- 1 National Title
- 2 National Title Games
- 4 BCS Bowls/Playoffs
- 3 Playoff appearances (out of 4 seasons)
- 5 Top 10 finishes
- 3 Top 5 finishes
- 3 Conference Titles (with another in 2011)

Doing well would be winning a national championship or two, and a few more conference titles.

As Saban nears the end of his tenure, I really do not see a dominant SEC team going forward. I believe UGA will be very successful under Smart and will be in the thick of things.
However, Everyone in the conference has raised its level of play on the field so that no one team will dominate like Bama has over the last nine years.
Conference championships will be spread throughout the league with UGA being in the mix but not winning one but about once every 5-6 years at most.
Basically similar to Richt but with a slightly higher ceiling.

Kirby right now reminds me of Saban when at LSU. Saban built a staff of loyal, key guys who were there with him for almost his entire tenure. Kirby has Chaney, who so far has been competent and has been a good QB coach. And no one's looking really looking to hire Chaney. Tucker could probably move on in a year or two but Kirby losing a D coordinator isn't a huge deal.

So I look at UGA having the potential to mirror LSU under Saban, only this time the coach ain't leaving for the NFL.

Quit fricking making threads. Or take the Georgia logo out of your profile. Either one.

Jesus Christ.

Maybe you should just hope to be any of those.

Georgia's full potential is what weve seen for 30 years...anything more would be called over-achieving.

You wish this were true. The signs are there for all to see that your thought process is wishful thinking.
