If the SEC goes 9-3 or better in bowl games is it still a "down" year?

Set the record for most wins last year going 8-2 in bowl games. We have 12 teams this year due to all the parity. If we set the record again, is it really a down year for the SEC?

Yes. This is not SEC football we saw from all but 1 or 2 teams.

It helps the image but the damage has been done this year.

LSU lost to Wisconsin
Auburn lost to Clemson
UGA lost to GT
UF lost to FSU

etc...

College Football is down as a whole. That said, we will know more after the bowls.

OSU and Mich passed the eye test but the Big 10 made a living for a long time insulating themselves competitively. Lets see some evenly matched teams go at with them.

Personally, I don't see it happening. Also, I don't necessarily count the NC winner as a notch on the 'Bowl Belt'; it's the playoff winner and I see it more as an overall validation of the conference.

Here's my board at the moment, fwiw:

Winners:
Miss St > Miami OH —St Petersburg
ATM > KS ST —Texas
UGA > TCU —Liberty
LSU > Louisville —Citrus

Toss Ups:
UT = NEB —Music City
KY = GA Tech —Taxslayer
Vandy = NC ST —Independence

Runners Up:
South FL > USCe —Birmingham
IOWA > FLA —Outback
OU > AUB —Sugar
VT > ARK —Belk

Red Team wins NC
