College football needs to chill the frick out and get back to being about college.

That will never happen unless the NFL actually gets a legitimate minor league that the 5* recruits can go to out of high school.

Why not kick them out? Just what exactly do they bring to the table? TV markets? The whole damn state barely has a million people and they still have State to watch. Great sports? They haven't won a championship in football since integration happened and in everything else they are second tier at best. Academics? Nobody is mistaking them for Vanderbilt unless you are an aspiring author.

I'm not saying they will be kicked out either, but what I am saying is if the conference or someone in power had the desire to do so, Ole Miss has given them plenty of ammo and not much reason to save them. I think the biggest hurdle would be finding a replacement. If OU expressed interest in coming, I'd be REAL uneasy as a Rebel fan about my SEC membership.

In 2012, when the Auburn basketball player was indicted for point shaving, was there any discussion that Auburn might get kicked out of the conference?

Point shaving doesn't get a school kicked out of a conference.

Well these situations arent comparable at all.

One players actions vs a multitude of shite from an entire program....in the biggest sport in the collegiate world.

What if that is because there has been way more effort to keep it quiet.

What if this is turning into a John Grisham type book not just a Steve Rosebowl book.

What if this is how the "network" got funding that the IRS may not know about. They could choose a few games a year to have several people place 10k on the games. Ten people do this on 3 games a year and you can fund the "network" off the books.(since we are helping John with his next best seller assume they are placing bets with a mob bookie that don't report anything to the IRS)

If you were involved in these you would do your best to keep it hidden. Jail time, lifetime of looking over your shoulder for Capone's hit men.

Again just trying to give John some fresh info about a great book about his hometown not that any of this is true?

The NCAA needs to make an example of cheaters and reel back in the corruption surrounding college sports NOW. It is impacting people's interest.

Should've happened to UNC and. Miami but the NCAA really dropped the ball.

This. After we were found innocent of all the cam Newton allegations, one of the main NCAA compliance officials came to work for our compliance team. Let that sink in.

You know that sounds an awful lot like a case of a "Captured Regulator."

You will never have a federal justice sstem that has one level.of criminal penalties for point shaving in college basketball and a separate set of penalties for point shaving in college football.

Point shaving in college sports is nothing new. The precedents for the conferences and the NCAA have been in place for well over half a century. I have no knowledge whether OM football has a point shaving scandal or not, but either way, their chances of being kicked out of the SEC for having one are exactly zero.

Plain and simple, point shaving in college sports just doesn't move the needle much. The matters are left to federal prosecutors and civilian sports administrators don't get involved.
