Oh come on, Okstate was 19th in media views the past decade. If anyone deserves to be middle it’s us. Numbers for Bedlam and Okst vs Texas are always good because we’re ranked at some point every season. And we’re competitive in other sports. We get higher views than the bottom half of the SEC, if we had that TV money we could do even more. We should be the top pick after the flagship schools are sorted out.

If Greg Sankey and the 16 member Presidents of the SEC are shrewd, and I believe they are, then look forward to the next round of SEC Media rights negotiations.

ESPN / Disney are stretched thin. I’ve read stories Disney may spin off ESPN to raise cash. ESPN is their cash cow.

I believe the players wanting to obtain SEC programming will be enormous. The idea of adding any of the schools you mentioned might be and probably would add great value and fit into the SEC footprint.

I just don’t think any one media outlet is rich enough or would want to take on the risk of the type money upcoming on next media deal. The media companies risk is their advertising rates could suffer if games are bad and underperform. Adding the teams you mentioned would help alleviate that concern somewhat.

The current issue is the SEC’s nemesis, Big 10, might make preemptive move and snatch these teams. Their media partners, NBC, CBS, FOX combined make a formidable force against Disney.

Lastly, I believe a real discussion will be had about the bottom feeders of the SEC. I won’t mention their names but their contribution is paltry compared to the top half.

Vandy reaps huge financial gain but does nothing to help ratings. Same can be said for others

I see a 32 team super league. It would have a commissioner, a new media contract, and ties with existing conferences a memory. Not saying the SEC, Big Ten, Acc, Big 12 would not continue. They would.

The new league, would consist of teams with the largest fan bases and media ratings. I think we can all figure who that would be.

So yes, these teams you mentioned are all national brands with huge fan bases.

Will be interesting these next five years to see what happens.

I'm starting to believe the big 10s plan is go to 24. The whole "alliance" is looking less like a joke and more about big ten only called the alliance to discuss how to carve up the acc and pac. Weird how big 12 was left out of meetings and no rumors or smoke is coming from big 12

And yes, the new Big10 will be the only true National conference and blow by the SEC in terms of dollars.

But not in terms of National Titles. Money is great but it is meaningless when your main rival has about as much AND wins titles in the major sports

In no world will Notre Dame end up in the SEC. Period. Offer them the mom, they aren’t taking it.

Not IF…it’s when. FSU will be out of the ACC by August 2025.

3-5 other schools will join FSU to the Big10.

And yes, the new Big10 will be the only true National conference and blow by the SEC in terms of dollars.

LOL. You are funny. You just assume FSU is going to the Big 10. What is more likely is the Big 12.

That was a very interesting take bamaoldtimer.

I posted in another thread concern about Big 10 scooping up GaTech quickly and quietly on a move to get FSU and Clemson. That would expand Big 10 right into their chief competition and give them a foothold in the largest city in southeast. If they also add Notre Dame - trouble.

So SEC may have to make moves of addition in defense and not offense in terms of revenue. Adding FSU, Clemson, and Tech would dilute school share in terms of what you get today, but maybe not as much as loss in existing revenue share if Big 10 got in Southeast competiting with brand and eyeballs.

But your scenario blows that theory up completely. Wipe the slate clean and cherry pick over the entire country. One thing there is who gives up power? I don’t see the Big 10 brass or SEC brass willing to cooperate to run off to form their own league. You go from 2 powerful commissioners … to one. And on down the line. Never underestimate the enticement and addiction of power to those that seek it. And anyone already in those high positions… sought it… like it… and want to keep it.

I'm torn on this. Part of me says "HELL NO!".

Then again, it would be a mighty blow against the B1G to take their "ultimate goal".

But if the SEC DOESN'T expand, how long before the B1G takes our members?

In the business world at times you need to play defense to protect your offense and vice-versa

Don't have all of the answers but it's obvious that things are changing at breakneck speed

Why in the world would ND want into the SEC? With the 12 team playoff they are guaranteed a spot when they have a good year.

I believe the 12 team playoff will be short-lived

Thinking more along the lines of the NFL model with the NFC/AFC being the B1G and SEC

The leftovers won't be relevant

I don’t really understand how you discuss kicking out Vandy but want to add UNC and UVA? Then, TV markets don’t matter anymore but we need to add the states of NC and VA? Those schools have never accomplished anything at all in football. UNC has every advantage in the world in the ACC (refs, schedule, great recruiting) and implode every season like clockwork.

There is no conspiracy by the B1G to take over football. They took two shiny objects from CA like the SEC did with UT/OK. They weren’t out taking Oregon and Washington. They were just in a position to a not only get hugs concessions (50% pay cuts for 10 years) but also maybe start a far west division to alleviate some travel pain the CA additions caused. They’re not taking over anything.

1. It is not a given that FSU or Clemson or UNC can actually get out of their ACC contract of media rights. Personally, I just do not see that happening anytime soon regardless of what Florida State wants.

2. Neither the Big10 nor the SEC wants FSU. Where could FSU go to get big money? Certainly not the Big12.

3. I hope the SEC stays at 16 teams. Those 16 teams will keep the SEC dominant (over the Big10) regardless of who adds to the Big 10.
