They will have a better SEC record than Kentucky over the past SEVEN seasons:

Current SEC record 2018-2024:

86-38 Tennessee
86-38 Kentucky
80-45 Auburn
77-48 Alabama

The game on Saturday gives the winner the better record over the last seven seasons.

My question is this: Has any program ever had a better SEC record than Kentucky over a period of seven seasons or longer?

I went back and checked Florida in the Donovan years, and I can’t find that they ever had a 7-year period with a better record. Has it ever happened to anyone’s knowledge?

Rick Barnes has definitely elevated our program to the upper echelon of the conference.

I think Pearl will find himself back in Knoxville at some point in time.

Don't count KY out so quick on Saturday. Cal comes through brilliantly when you least expect it. Ask Alabama and Auburn. Tennessee and Barnes may see the real Cats

It's been a fun run. Barnes is 11-9 against Cal and owns the head to head record vs UK. It's made the rivalry exciting again.

The conference records are identical & both teams each have 2 SEC Regular season championships and 1 SEC Tournament Championship during that time frame. They're actually a lot closer in most metrics than I thought.

What's crazy is I feel like he has quietly done it. I feel like a hear way more mainstream news about Kentucky, Alabama, or Auburn.

Nice to cherry-pick a time frame I suppose...

You can make numbers work for something or against it.

Doesn't discount how good Barnes has made Tennessee. He's an excellent person and coach.

UT can lick my granny's dirty baloon knot but they are good.

What’s crazy he is only has two Sweet 16s and nothing more during this time or his entire time at UT. If he can’t make it passed that this year he never will at TN

He won’t. I love my Vols, but they will find a way to choke against a lower seed that will end up in final four.

Whether it’s Loyola or Florida Atlantic, the program always finds a way no matter who is coach.

I hope this year is different. I sincerely do. But until they finally do it, I have zero hope.

Coach Cal will have them playing hard this Saturday. We are each other's biggest rival and he is at his best in situations like this.

Of course, Kentucky had its worst season in 2021. Some of Tennessee's best years, and Kentucky's worst years. But Tennessee is better than Kentucky right now.
