No. Here's ten better off the top of my head: Saban, Miles, Meyer, Stoops, Spurrier, Fisher, Snyder, Briles, D'antonio, and Shaw. I left out Richt so you wouldn't think I'm biased either. There are a couple others I left out as well. Pinkel is a great coach, and has done a really good job at Toledo and Mizzou, but he's never won his conference or even appeared in a BCS game. I don't think I could put a coach in the top 10 if he's never accomplished either of those tasks.

One of the top 10 in the SEC, no question. I'd put him at 10 and feel completely serene about my decisive placement.

He may very well get to the SECCG. The east is wide arse open.
Gary Pinkel is Mizzou's version of Mark Richt. Very good at being 2nd place and ALMOST reaching the pinnacle of success. It's really a shame.

Coach Pinkel can dance better than Spurrier too. Our coach a G.

He can even get a DUI. No wonder DGB was able to flourish at mizzou.

I was going to say that. " Stop reading my damn mind". lol

He's a good coach but if he was top ten he'd have a better job by now. USC, Texas, Tennessee, just to name a couple top programs who recently hired new coaches and didn't even mention GP's name.
He's a poor mans Mike Gundy so far. But I'd take him in a bind - he can win games but he can't recruit and he doesn't win consistently.

Man big bird could recruit in Louisiana, Florida, Georgia, or Texas.

I think the man has been approached to take another program, (Washington) but if he can take MIZZOU to a perennial top 25 team that makes him a top 10-15 coach, no else has been able to do it in the last 40 yrs.

He's really not though
Just for arguments sake, do you think Saban or any of the other coaches that are deemed better than Pinkel could take his squad and get anymore wins, or do you think Pinkel could take Bama and get the same results that Saban gets?, if it's all about players and the average ranking at MIZZOU is < 3* then Pinkel's results are pretty good.

Why don't you wait until he is over .500 in league play before you start a thread like this...

Make it back to the SECCG and the argument could certainly be made.
I agree. Missouri faced depleted Georgia and Florida teams and an injured Shaw in the 2nd half of the South Carolina game. South Carolina lost some of their best players and Georgia has major question marks on Special Teams, defense, and on offense. Missouri has a little rebuilding to do themselves, but considering the whole East will be doing such, winning the SEC East will not be that impressive.

I was in Missouri when they hired him. Hes been good since day 1. Hard to believe he's still at Mizzou and has now led them into the SEC. I thought for certain he would leave Mizzou for a huge payday but it never happened and now he's a long term caoch for Mizzou. U guys are very lucky to have this man coaching your team.

People forget about Mizzou's 80s and 90s. IT WAS HORRIBLE. His turnaround here is on par with Baylor, South Carolina, and K-State. Mizzou was dirt for 20+ years with no sign of change. Pinkel (hopefully forever) changed the culture in Missouri. That's why he is top 10 impressive. He completely changed a program and then maintained it.

I thought he would've gone to UW in 09. as for GP, maybe not top 10, but he's done a very good job there
