If State and OM combined, that school would dominate in football and baseball, and, eventually, would probably be pretty freaking good at basketball.

Honestly, it would be a situation comparable to LSU. One instate power in a state that produces a good amount of talent.

No one is going to argue that the 90s were bad for our football program but to say that we were as bad as Ole Miss for our entire history is laughable. The joke that LSU football started in 2000 is a myth.

LINK

Hey we're pretty close there. LSU is #10 from beginning of football to 2000. Ole Miss is #26, Aggy #18

I agree... though it doesn't do much to help with the racist critique.

This isn't even close to being accurate today. In the 1980/90's, sure JuCo's were stock full of the best Mississippi players. However, today, I can't even think of the last high level recruit from Mississippi that had to go that route.

Louisiana is loaded with talent and before Saban arrived they were essentially just as successful as Ole Miss.

Take Saban out of Bama and they would of been a mediocre team at best. Your point?

Maybe, but it is still not exactly the same equivalent:

To put it briefly, Mississippi currently has TWICE the number of SEC schools but HALF the population that Louisiana does. Even merging Ole Miss and MSU still leaves LSU with a 2:1 advantage with its instate talent pool. I think the Arky fan's point in starting this thread is that while Arkansas and Mississippi have the same population Arky still wins more because it doesn't have an instate rival splitting its talent pool like the Mississippi schools do.

MISSISSIPPI STATE BASEBALL SEC CHAMPIONS 1909 1911 1918 1921 1922 1924

Hold up there, hoss. You can't claim those as "SEC Champions." The SEC didn't even start competing until the 1932-33 season.
