Last time I checked they destroyed Auburn in the Sugar Bowl last year. It's not OU's fault that the other traditional power in their conference, Texas, is completely feckless and toxic, or that their conference doesn't have a title game.

It is their fault they allowed tu's powers to go unchecked. They didn't prevent the Longhorn network. They took a larger share of the revenue which hurt its partners. It's their fault for not being more proactive when the last 2 rounds of realignment took place. They should have seen the writing on the wall when NU & CU left and again when A&M & MU left.
I'm not saying OU alone could have fixed everything, but they didn't do anything to stop it.

Yes, but that is all. They've been a disaster from a fit perspective. Screw the money. SEC ain't starving. Bring in the Sooners and boot the Tigers.

We can easily round up a few others (Kentucky, S Carolina, etc.)
Central KY has many ties to oil, gas, and coal - especially in the horse business - so Sooners could easily be supported by UK.
Joe Craft may be from KY but he lives in Tulsa and a billionaire by this point. Both TAMU and MU were supported by UK on SEC membership and part of that was due to their vet schools and their equine expertise finding its way to CKY.
As for the Sooners they have a broad based sports culture that fits quite neatly within the sports the SEC competes in. Academically they are better than some of the schools in the West an desire to upgrade their profile.
It may piss off TAMU but OU in the SEC will piss off Texas more
OU in SEC = Dallas SEC flag
TAMU in SEC = Houston SEC flag
Having both will give Alabama and LSU the best access to recruit TX and making LSU vs TAMU rivals while making Hogs and Sooners rivals would benefit all 4 schools.

I asked in other thread, but in a cord cutting a la cart tv model is OU more valuable?
We will water down SEC product. The gap between playing cross division teams is too far away.
Bama vs UT shouldn't mean other schools have permanent cross division rival

Agreed. They've been Texas' bitch and yes man through this whole process. They should have stood up and said something when their forever rival Nebraska left. They've been complicit in this destruction of the Big XII by their silence. Now they see the writing on the wall and want a golden parachute? Forgive me if I'm not very sympathetic.

What kind of know sense is saying that Okahoma recruiting Texas will help LSU recruit Texas? That means they will steal recruits you want then march right into Lousiana and steal guys right from under your nose because that is whats going to happen. How will you feel about that?

I am saying with the SEC in TX via OU and TAMU the local media will cover SEC sports where they used to just cover B12 sports. That will help solid football programs in the west like LSU and Alabama.

Doubtful OU would make the kind of impact. You'd need to snag a Texas school.

This is a very interesting comment. I think you may be on to something in say 10 years. Doing now would be forward thinking, but currently, you're taking a hit which would be very hard to sell.
