No way a decent coach would have a losing record with this LSU team.

Recruiting is not why Miles was fired. There was a distinct, and pervasive lack of player development over the years tied to an offensive scheme that should have never seen the new millennium all wrapped into a vicious, endless cycle of refusal to change anything.

Dude. I marvel at your dialectic, but seriously: We're talking gumps, jorts, rebs, hamsters and not a few coonasses on this board.

Likely 8-4 on talent alone.

Seriously there is going to be a real problem on defense next year. "Talent alone" is a ridiculous statement... LSU will be no more talented that most of the SEC teams next year when you factor in experience and depth.

Of real concern...LSU only has about 6-8 LBs on the roster, and most of those are converted DE or S or even RBs. The average roster LB recruiting rating is about high 3-star and only one is really an upperclassman. None are likely to be even all SEC third team. The DL is in pretty bad shape both talent and depth and age/experience. Key is the only potential to make all SEC.

A 3-4 depends on some specific combination of players. The lack of depth at DL, and the absence of even a decent LB corps first string, much less depth, does not portend well. Offense should be decent, QB competent and he is an upperclassman...though again the OL is a question mark.

It is easily possible the O does a decent job and the team finishes 7-5 or even 6-6 because of the 5 SEC road games. This recruiting class looks a little more balanced.. except for no LBs.. again. I don't understand that dearth.

My advice next year for LSU fans is don't repeat the euphoria and delusion that was so rampant this year. Hard headed analysis and open eyes will prevent a huge disappointment...and there is always a chance things all fall in place.

SCARED are you??

LSU dominated the middle 90 YARDS of the field this year VS the gators. We are going for the WHOLE 100 at the swamp.

Tigers could very well be favored in 10 of the 12 regular season games.

First off LSU played very little 3-4 last year. Because of offenses faced tigers were in a 4-2 most every game.

Beckwith was the only returning LB last year. He will be greatly missed. The only other LB departing is Riley. He came out of nowhere last year to be a solid contributor. Aranda did wonders with that kid. With Aranda as their position coach look for the LBs to be a solid group. D White, Divinity and Alexander will be a very good starting point.

As for the DL, tigers will be OK. Return two starters and another four or five that saw the field on a regular basis. Had a couple of highly recruited players redshirt.

All in all the only difference between returning front seven players in '16 to '17 is the experience of Beckwith at MLB. Remember the name Devin White at LB. He will be Beckwith's replacement.

What I remember from last offseason was everyone saying how Aranda wouldn't make that much of a difference in '16. New coach. New system. Doesn't have the players to run a 3-4. Will be some adjustment time to new defense. Defense will show improvement in '17.

If this is the year we see the improvement in Aranda's "D" I can't wait to see the results.

I can honestly see LSU favored in nine or ten games next year. Dogs to either or, vols - gators. Plus bama.

Now how bout those five or six losses?

Only probable loss I see for them next year is Alabama. LSU will win 10 games next year not including bowl game.

In mid season. The coonasses would storm the walls and the governor would have to get the National Guard involved.
