So the Giants don't deserve that Super Bowl after losing to New England in the 2007 regular season?

Not for this LSU fan...it Bama wins it, they win it. I'll feel great about the season and look forward to next. I'd feel a lot worse losing it to a non-SEC team and in my mind, Bama is the best opponent and should be there. All that said, I don't trust the voters to do the right thing and if OSU wins big, I'm expecting it to be a very, very, close vote on the final poll. The computer 1/3 already has OSU ahead of Bama and I doubt if the Auburn game changes the BCS results when released tomorrow night. If not, OSU will not have that big a hill to climb.

I believe he was referring to Alabama and their claimed titles, hence "half their claimed championships". Not the 2003 LSU/USC dispute.

Agreed --- LSU beat Ole Miss in 1959 (the Billy Cannon run) and lost in the Sugar Bowl... National Champions... Ole Miss.

It kind of sucks to have to play a team again... but no matter who we play we have to WIN to be champions.

Won't it be slightly tainted, being 1-1 against your opponent?
Ask Florida's 1996 championship team. I bet it doesn't bother them at all.

Last I counted, the World Series is settled in 7 games. There is no argument over who is the better team when it's all said and done. Plus, there is a playoff to get there. The best two teams prove that they deserve to be there before the first game is played. I want Bama though. I don't have a problem saying that they're #2 in the nation. Here's the thing though... IF Bama gets in (and that's a big if), and they manage to beat LSU in a close one, then they just split a 2 game series. There will be no 3rd game to prove who the better team is. We'll have, yet another, split title. To end, I'd just like to say 9-6. You Gumps seem to overlook that.

Alabama claims a national championship in 1941...

Alabama finished the regular season at 8-2. In the final 1941 AP poll, the Crimson Tide was ranked #20.

They are not above making any claim no matter how small the crumb of reasoning. They are like the bum on Bourbon street who takes 3/4ths finished drinks out of the trash can to drink.

Quite possibly the worst analogy ever.

Moron, they went through a vetting process called the playoffs to earn their way to the SB. They didn't fall arse-backwards into the championship like bammer will.

What? Because the AP once gave their title to the NFC west Trojans rather than the BCS champion LSU Tigers? What a maroon.

Even if they get left out.

In fact, especially if they get left out.

Being forced into trying and missing 45+ yard field goals doesn't really count somehow. Also-LSU errors in the same game do not count.

They play an odd number of games in the series.... poor analogy.
