re: If Alabama does worse than 11-2 and #5 next year, does Les Miles finally get credit?

Why did Saban do so much better at Alabama than at LSU?

Les set a standard in terms of reprehensible behavior towards women, that DeBoer will thankfully fall far short of.

Because he was there longer?? Is it not obvious? It's hard to play the what-if game but there's no doubt Saban would have played for multiple National Championships if he remained at LSU. He was able to put good classes together year after year while he was here, and in his last 2 years here things were really starting to take off. There's no doubt he would have been able to continue to build off of that success and keep things going, as you have seen.

Maybe so but I don’t know when would be a good time for this with the changes before us.

Any time when the portal is open for all schools would have been better than when it was closed. Granted I’m not a portal expert, so there are probably nuances I’m not accounting for, but letting it be open season on the Bama players when they cannot raid other rosters seems like the worst possible option.

Everyone had two losses, save OSU, who LSU played and beat for the natty.

Shite even after all those top 4 teams.

5. UGA 10-2
6. Missouri 11-2
7. USC 10-2

Les miles squandered more talent in his 1st 2 years at
LSU than any coach ever has .Sure he won 10-11 games but
if you watched his games especially on Offense it was coaching malfeasance. The guy was a hardheaded AH.

Ok your post has some merit, but it has nothing to do with the context of my post which was a response about LSU's 2007 team that went 11-2 and won the SEC and then won the BCS NC vs. Ohio State.

More specifically, a 2 loss team winning the NC. That will very, very, very likely happen in the now 12 team playoff.

So my point is had you had a 12 team playoff in 2007, that 11-2 SEC Champion would have run through it that year and won the CFP NC just as well.
