He is in his last year of his contract and i doubt it gets renewed...my guess is they saw more potential in aj than dalton and thats why they drafted him...granted him starting this year is a long shot. Dalton isnt a franchise qb. Not saying aj is either though

Dalton is fricking horrible, I personally don't think he is in the top 25 QBs in the NFL, but they didn't draft AJ to replace him. I think they would be smart to pass on resigning him and go after a QB in next year's draft unless someone does step up this season, but if you're expecting that someone to be McCarron, you'll likely be disappointed.

Dalton isn't terrible but he does make some bad choices.

aj will probably start
The Bengals went 11-5 last year winning the North by 3 games. Unless he implodes(or gets hurt) he will be their starting QB.

AJ got drafted because they didn't have anyone pushing Dalton. With Campbell and McCarron there to push Dalton, it's basically the front office saying, "You're not the starter simply by default."

McCarron will have a chance to play, of course, but it feels more like they are pushing their main guy to step up in the post season. Being 0-3 in the post season after three strong regular seasons is what is getting frustrating.

It didn't help that in the last playoff game, Dalton was responsible for three turnovers (2 INT and a fumble).

Dalton's biggest threat isn't his backups, but himself. If he fails to reach consistency, then McCarron or Campbell could easily come in. If the Bengals see enough promise in AJ, then yes, he could become their starter and have many years in the league.

After missing a couple of games last year with a knee injury he just lost a little bit of sync with Dalton late in the season. If hes fully healthy this year the playoffs could be interesting

Lulz. AJ going to hold a clip board and signal in plays for Dalton. The Bengals are going to ride on Dalton. Oh, didn't the Bengals pick up Shaw as a free agent?

Browns picked up Shaw.

Bengals will live or die with Dalton, if the season implodes , they wont re-sign him, and go after QB next draft ... AJM will never start in the NFL!

Why would a WR take a QBs spot?
