It's because we have older money guys who make the decisions that were alive to see us as a dominant program.

We're like a guy who had a one night stand with a drunk smoke show, so we have become picky about who we bang afterwards, and essentially never get laid again.

You have a way with drawing relative perspective.

State is the guy that banged the 5 that one night in Atlanta 15 years ago while all his buddies were passed out, but he still holds it over his brother's head because he's been jerking it for 50 years.

Living in the state but being a LSU fan I have an unbiased viewpoint. I believe that for a few (5-7 yrs) it would be enough. But then the fanbase would become unsettled wanting to see improvement.

Every program has these guys.

Another problem is most have been successful in some form of money making adventure in their lives so they then think they know more about running an athletic program than the people actually hired to do so.

Many donors said the basketball program would have to have some measurable form of success (Elite8, Final Four, NC, etc) before they would shell out the bucks to fund the PF, the idea that it isn't chicken/egg argument when you are so far behind in that arms race didn't seem to clue in to any of them.

Come on, now that trip to Atlanta was at least a 7 because we led in the fourth quarter.

But great analogy.

State would keep him til he died with an Egg Bowl win every year.

Agreed as long as we were going to a bowl or if we had a losing season we were young and returning a lot.

No way we would every fire a coach at State if he won 7 or more games and won the Egg Bowl.

No. Most Ole Miss fans don't care about the egg bowl as much as you'd think. We look at upward motion.

That being said. Arkansas is relatively on par with Ole Miss historically so quit acting so damn high and mighty.

more than likely yes... but eventually they'll get restless and want more... look at Rick Stansbury. best basketball coach in MSU history fired for guy who's absolutely clueless.

Couldn't be further away from the truth.
