But hey...we lost the Mike we depended on to stop the run all year. We were paper thin at DL all year and we decided-inexplicably-not to rotate fresh bodies in during the 2nd half. Beyond that, our DC decided not to switch to a 40 front to stop the bleeding and get the ball back.
We gave up one busted play in the most unlikeliest of situations when we couldn't afford to. We had a TO in A goal to go situation. We had two critical Special Teams mistakes that created a 6 point swing. A swing which was the winning margin for your team.
Most annoyingly to me, we took reps away from a kid who gets better as the game wears on because an injured superstar decided on an emotional whim he wanted to try and give it a go, and we catered to that over what's best for our team.
All of those are facts except that last one. It's conjecture but it seems awfully accurate to me.
We gave away the game, and you had just enough in the tank on both offense and defense to take it.
Congrats and enjoy the next two years at your place. The better team won.

When someone tells you that the better team won, and that YOU are the better team in that scenario, it takes a special kind of dumbfrickery to call that an excuse.
