Top speed 340mph
So a 2.5 hour trip, yeah the round trip would be a long one but it’s leaving st 4:45 am and will be at A&M before 8:30 am , he could easily be home by lunch

That's actually not bad. TurboProps can be quicker than people realize.
I was curious about the price and speed for a King Air a couple of weeks ago to compare to a Cirrus Vision (personal jet). The Cirrus seats 4-7 (including pilot) and is a shade under 2 million, but only cruises at 300 KTAS. King Air 350i seats 10, cruises at 312, but costs upwards of 7-8 million.
All I'm saying is that my prejudice against props can be simplistic.
