Yeah -- and time of possession, too. Rice, Lamar, and SMU demolished the Ags on time of possession -- 114:00 to 66:00!

Best way to keep that offense out of the endzone is to keep them off the field! Yessir!

If you give up almost 600 yards of offense to A&M like you did you Auburn, you'll lose by a whole lot more than just 21 points.

A&M has run 304 plays, scoring 221 points (29 touchdowns). That's about 1.36 points per play.

I thought Arkansas would have a shot until I saw North Texas trounce Nicholls State yesterday and a sloppy Auburn team on Thursday night (who is still a good team, I just mistakenly thought they were much more solid).

I moved Arkansas back down to a solid 6th in the West with their only chance at a win against LSU. A&M rolls.

Posts like this make me feel slightly better, but I am definitely a little worried about this game. I could totally see this A&M team besting Bama and Auburn, but losing to other teams.

Arkansas averaged 4.7 YPC against NIU.

If they only average 4.7 against us, we will win by A LOT. They averaged 7.8 YPC last year, at home, in a driving second half rain and lost by two scores.

This is assuming their defense doesn't prove more than a mild nuisance to our offense, which is a pretty good assumption. Their fans are stoked about their DBs because they jumped a few routes against Texas Tech, who has about a tenth of our offensive talent.

A&M's opponents had the ball 136:00 and scored a total of 47 points. That's 2:53/point

A&M had the ball 87:14 and scored a total of 221 points. That's 24 SECONDS/point

Not only that, but neither A&M nor its opponents have scored a non-offensive TD so the results are NOT skewed by that.

But Speedy has been tackled by the kicker twice on 60+ yard returns...

Objectively I think most Arkansas fans would agree that if A&M limits Arkansas to an average number of yards per rush it wont be pretty. Arkansas needs to be able to consistently drain the clock and run for big chunks, because the one thing our defense is good at is getting off the field in third and long this year.

We can average 4 yards a game and beat the ever-loving dog shite out of you guys. 3rd down conversions and not settling for field goals is what will determine our offensive success. But pointing to YPC as a wholly encompassing metric is pretty Aggy of you.

I guess it's a good thing that we don't usually find ourselves in 3rd and long situations. I expect more against A&M, but we don't shoot ourselves in the foot that much. Not this season, anyway.

Sumlin might do the same if he allowed himself to lose to Arkansas.

Unlikely, 4 YPC is very pedestrian and below the national average. That means one of several things is happening: You are breaking the occasional big run but getting stuffed fairly regularly, are running well but getting sacked a lot or are legitimately rushing for right around 4 yards almost every rush with few outliers. The latter of those options is exceedingly rare and option #1 is by far the most common.

4 YPC means that, throughout the game, you will find yourselves in 2nd and 8+ and 3rd and 6+ multiple times and that is not a recipe for success in your scheme. Add in penalties, sacks, drops and other factors which could worsen the situation and 4 YPC is not gonna do it in the conventional way by which teams average that.

Your view on that yardage per carry is very simplistic and has no relevance in the real world. 4 YPC for an offense that has to run to be successful, and with a defense that cannot offer much support if they falter, is a recipe for disaster.

Say what you want about A&M's style of play, but we are not faced with such predicaments. We actually can average 4 YPC and bat good teams by a lot. Arkansas can't.

Please pass along the lotto numbers when you respond.

What Arkansas can or can't do passing the ball may or not be put to the test versus A&M. We'll see. But boy, how fricking embarrassing it would be to lose against a team you are so sure you'll beat. How embarrassing it would be if Brandon Allen threw for 200+ yards on your defense.

Questioning people's opinions stated as facts =/= shite talking.
