@jppalmCBS: OSU leads Auburn in the polls, but computers could push Tigers ahead this week. LINK

Made a thread last night about it
OSU's SOS is 60th
OSU's SOS is 60th

Exactly. It won't happen.

The polls will change based on how things play out. Remember 2007 when UGA was the highest ranked team that didn't lose the second to last weekend? AFter the CGs for the conferences, the voters made damn sure that UGA wouldn't be 1-2, even though these same voters refuse to adjust their rankings week to week during the season based on how teams play.

SOS for auburn and mizzou are 25th and 27th
OSU is 60th
OSU is 60th

It might actually happen. The margin between AU and OSU in the Coaches poll is razor thin. And AU has 2 first place votes in the AP (which the Harris closely copies). If Auburn wins out they will likely be first in the computers.
They just might slip by Ohio.
They just might slip by Ohio.

What was Alabama's when they went over OSU? It was in the 60s, right?
There is media bias. There will be too many voters placing Ohio State 2. That's just the fact of the matter.

I really think they will. The SECCG bump will be significant.

It's not going to happen

"We’re going to tell a group of young men who just went 12-1 with the most difficult schedule against six ranked opponents that they don’t have a chance to go play for a national championship? I’m going to need help with that one."
-- Urban Meyer in 2006 lobbying for Florida to get into the MNC game.
It will be interesting to hear what he has to say now.

I think we're all familiar with your bold predictions, Fawxie.
We don't know what will happen. If auburn gets close enough, the computers will push them over. If they blow out Missouri, and/or Ohio State escapes with a fluke win, that could factor as well. OR maybe auburn jumps them this week and the pollsters panic and intentionally vote auburn down to manipulate the formula.
None of us know right now.

To be fair, the team he was lobbying to pass was 11-1, not 13-0.

The matter of fact is that the computers will place AU higher and voters know the SEC has produced the top team/teams the past 8 years. It will be tough to overlook that.

The assumption here is that Auburn will win. I wouldn't bet on that.

The point is its close. I think they will.
